Ok, 1-1 as we stand... but lets face it....at Delhi, Mohali and Guwahati the aussies may as well stay in their hotels and watch the games on Telly :0

Delhi will be spinners paradise .. injuns will have 5 spinners to call upon... so that 2-1 in the bag already ;)

Mohali and Guwhati pitches will be batting paradises where injun batting lineup will again be capable of scoring 350 ish , if nessasary ;)

So thats 4-1 in the bag ;) .. only question is can the ausssies save the embarrasment of a 6-1 mauling by winning either the 4th game at hydrobad.. or the final one in Mumbai ?:|

On balance of probabilities, injuns wont easy up at hydrobad... so i think aussies got just one chance to avoid that 6-1 drubbing... and thats the dead rubber at mumbai in last game where injuns may rest a few players for the Lanka series ;)

So , as ffar as i am concerned, we really are looking at a series result of 6-1 or 5-2 to injuns... believe me ;)

Can anyone seriously argue with that :D

Deadly... what are your thoughts mate .. can you see ausssies making a decent fight of it for rest of series considering the grounds they playing on :)

I value your comments as you give good reasons. Most of the times you are found to be good in judging but not always.

I feel this time you may be underestimating Aus fighting spirit and having over expectations on India. My guess is 4-3 result and will be close contest.

Well Joe, I plead guilty to backing oz early in match 2. You could not say other than that they were entirely disappointing and India were very impressive.

The Austalians seemed to be having a net almost from the fall of the first wicket, so maybe with so many batsmen getting double figures and time in the middle this might help them a little going forward bt they looked badly outclassed overall really. Lee to come back about the only other positive I can find but with all the disruption from the injuries it is hrd to see past the Indians for now. Ishant finally showed up with his proper form, and with all the many spin options available they should go from strengh to strength, but these two teams have proved a torn in my side before this, trowing up result after result that runs contra to every indicator going into the match.

If India have one potential weakness it is that Kumar and Nehra are not much good with the ball if it doesn't swing.

Cheers U25K ..indeed , like most i have my good days .. and bad :(

But i got a feeling i will be spot on about this ;) ... too many factors in Injuns favour for it to be anything other then a comfortable series win :)

Bottom line is that this injun batting lineup is so far averaging 320 per innings in this series.. and thats with none of Sehwag, Tendulkar or Yuvraj making a 50 yet :0

3 of the next 5 games will be played on batting paradises .... and that plays to indias strentgh .. they got 288 and 354 so far without a flying start.. they lost their first 3 wckets for around 100 each time .. and yet average 320 .... imagine the carnage at Mohali, Guwhati or hydrobad if Tendulkar, Sehwag or yuvraj get india off to a better start.. say 150-2 ;)

Thats worry enough for the aussies.. but they must also be petrified that Ishant Sharma seems to be bowling better ... Preveen Kumar and Asish Nehra are finding theirt consistency .. and though Bhaji is struggling a tad... the spin of Jedeja, Yuvraj and Raina gives Dhoni plenty of other options :)

Bottom line is.. ON THESE PITCHES ..india will remain a 320 par side.. Aussies will remain a 260 par side.... and though its possible India could have one more bad hair day....ON THESE PITCHES.. they wonr=t be having 2 more bad hair days in next 5 .. believe me ;)

Good Post deadly ..i will just say this.. if the ball does not swing for Nehra or Kumar.. it wont swing for Lee , Siddle or Johnson either .. and of the 2 batting lineups, who do you think is more likely to make more hay if there is no swing :)

Yes Injuries have not helped Australia.. but as i have said many a time, with wall to wall cricket these days, teams need big sqauds now... india were missing Sehwag, Yuvraj and Zaheer in the ICC trophy..I did not use that as an excuse for their falure .. and no one else did either ;)

Don't think Aussies will win the series 6-1 BJ.
Oz 5 Injuns 2 is most likely outcome.

im with u big joe, think this aussie team is tired and dont look interested from last night.

Cameron White yet to prove himself against quality opposition. Dont know what his tactics were last night, 23 off 42 balls. Too many of the Aussie team are playing for their spots, hence the nerves: Voges, Marsh, Hilfenhaus, Cameron White and it showed in yesterdays performance.

Im an Aussie but i think India can win 6-1 or 5-2 for sure.

Will the bf public never learn......this India side have flattered to deceive so often before. One good performance and some on here regard them as world beaters. Can't seem to do it consistently though. Just as likely to be crap in the next game, as they were in Baroda. Only got close there with a desperate thrash from Harby and Kumar at the death. Aussies will not bat as badly again in the series as they diod in Nagpur, and India's "pace" attack looks weak, with Nerha and Kumar opening the bowling. Oz are the value for Delhi and for the series. Correct score: 5-2 to the men in gold & green.

Er Joe, your logic about swing doesnt quite add up. PK and Nehra are fodder when it doesnt swing , Lee can still be very dangerous in any conditions.
By:
dougydougy.
When: 29 Oct 09 13:55
yeah, that is nonsense, lee, johnson and siddle aren't swing bowlers, they are hit the deck very quick strike bowlers, nehra and kumar are not

Off shore .. hope your got an off shore account if you think that :^0

Other BIG factor here is the fear factor against aussies ..india were the thorn in the side for aussies even in their dominat period :0 .. they only team that were never intimidated .. and that remains the case ;)

Bottom line is Aussies have scraped one win against india in last 10 meetings in all formats :0 ... they may scrape one more in the next 10 meetings... but a 10% strike rate does not bode well for the rest of the series i suggest ;)

Are you saying teams with players missing should be assessed as if those players are not missing Joe?

For me, each match result gets assessed for merit, each coming match/series is also assessed on its merits. If the Indians, notionally missing only Zaheer from their best team and playing at home, could not match the Australians playing a 3rd choice keeper, and notionally at least without Hopes, Clarke, and possibly Lee from their best xi, and with no Symonds who would be Australia's best player from te previous ODI series in India by miles, and coping with all the disruption you expect from quick turnover of players on tour, then I wouldn't be rating the Indian performance too highly, that is for certain.

Whatever happens, being Australian, I am always proud of the way the Australians approach and play their cricket, but I wouldn't like to see too many more hopelessly managed chases like in match 2 and I would be questioning what they were all about. Perhaps it is a long series and they realised early winning was highly unlikely, so just set about getting practice. Perhaps they were hopelessly outclassed. Perhaps they gave themselves the worst of the conditions by electing to field first. Who can say, but the next 5 matches should start to reveal which of these is most true.

two questions for you Offshore:
1) which is the only team that is unbeaten in all ODI series, home and away in last 2 years ?:|
2) Which team is currently on the longest unbeaten run in test matches of all countries ?:|

Answer those two questions and you will see the defention of consistency ;)

I there really any point?? I imagine many before me have given up from exhaustion trying to talk any sense into BJ. Even an injury-hit Aussie outfit is better than this India side. BJ, try to be just a bit less one-eyed for once - I'm sure your bank account will thank you for it!!

Deadly , no i am not saying missing players are not a factor....i am saying missing player will become the norm in future cos of wall to wall cricket and teams that can call up decent replacements will be better placed to handle it.

I suggest its a perfectly reasonable repost to your comment :)

Will you at least admit that they are CONSISTENTLY POOR in recent ODI tournaments?? That would be WC 2007 and ICC Champions Trophy 2009.

Good spot. It's not a tournament - simply a series against the winners of the last 3 World Cups and the last 2 Champions Trophies. Where does that suggest that the value might be?? There may be a need here to wake up and smell the coffee.....

Offshore.... if you think aussies are value based on their world cup triumps .. go ahead and back them :0

I will say this though.. those world cup triumps have been safely locked away in their trophy cabinets during indias last 10 meetings with Aussies in all formats.... those locked up trophies did not infuence any of those last 10 results... 10 results in which aussies have won a grant total on ONE game :0 ...if you want to know where the value is.. or where tyo smell the cofee .. take a look at those last 10 meetings .. then work out how much money you would have lost if you backed aussies each time :( ... then comeback and tell me to smell the coffe ;)
