from cricinfo ;

"For India, it's a bleak and depressing one. Three successive losses have cost them the series against a patchwork-quilt Australian side. Despite an appalling injury list, Australia have managed to hold their nerve at key moments. India have lapsed back into 1990s mode, with stellar individual performances like Sachin Tendulkar's 175 in Hyderabad expected to paper over collective weakness. That hasn't happened, and the pre-series hype of going for the No.1 ranking now sounds pathetic. "

Yes losing 3 in a row is not great...... but a strong aussie side lost 5 in a row earlier this year and managed to comeback ok ;)
Report nairda November 10, 2009 3:27 PM GMT
what strong Australian side...was that the side, that had a number of new players to ODI...

India far too short for a probably rain shortened game, if we get a game at all....

when dealing with the big fella facts are a mere bagatelle LDLS .. surely you know the rules by now .. ;)

Aussie team that lost 5 in a row earlier this year.. and 6 out of 7.. AT HOME :) . was something like:

Marsh
Waner
Ponting
Clarke
M Hussey
D Hussey
Haddin
Hopes
Johnson
Bracken
Johnson
Hilfenhaus

Ok, if you say thats a weak line up.. fair enough ;) ... but it proves any team, at home, can have a blip now and again and still get no1 a few months later ;)
Report bigjoe November 11, 2009 8:03 AM GMT
sorry, just the one johnson :)
Report dougydougy. November 11, 2009 8:05 AM GMT
or it proves australia can have a blip at home and still be number 1 a few months later more like
Report STEPTOES YARD November 11, 2009 8:09 AM GMT
Indias blip lasted a while now

Were poor in 20/20 wc and also CT
Report bigjoe November 11, 2009 8:09 AM GMT
and if you still insist this is weak team.. lets go back to 2007 and AGAIN Aussies lost 6 games from 7 in austerlasia... against England and New Zealand... their lineup for those games was something like:

Gilchrist
Haydon
Hodge
Clarke
Hussey
Symonds
White
Bracken
Clark
Mgrath
Tait

.. so i repeat, if a team can lose 6 out 7 twice in 2 years and still comeback.. why not a team thats lost 3 times in a row for first time in 2 years ;)

bj .. your missing the point .. its you who said that aus would need to rebuid after losing so many of their frontline players over the yrs .. its you who said they would struggle as they don't have a deep enuff pool of players to choose from .. it was also you who said that asian teams would dominate ckt over the nxt few yrs .. can't remember exactly when you started the domination thread but i do know that being at the top of the ICC ODI for a short time does not equate to being dominant .. all the time that your beloved indians fail to step up a gear regards fielding and bowling they will remain what they are .. a good team who on their day are capable of beating anyone but conversely are capable of losing to anyone .. be interesting to see what happens over the nxt yr or two .. ;)

Another.. i started the domination fred in Nov 2006 :0 .. at that time , in tests, injuns were 5th ranked team, lanka 7th and pakistan 4th :) ..Aussies were miles ahead of the rest and i stated in that fred that by end of 2008 and begining of 2009, that aussie dominance would be over and they would be vying for 3rd place in the test rankings with Sri Lanka :0 .. yes i said injuns and pakistan would be ahead of aussies too.. but lets be fair, Pakistan with all their home series being cancelled due to security and so they not progressed as i hoped :(

But we are now at the end of 2009, my profecy that aussies would be 3rd ranked team at best by now has come to pass .. injuns and lanks are in top 3 and moving up ;)

In odi, in nov 2006, injuns were 4th, pakistan 5th, lanka 6th... aussies were 20 points ahead ofg the rest.... and last week, injuns had a chance to REGAIN the no1 spot ;0

So,whilst i concede that the domination has not started yet.. the road to that domination is a lot more clearer.. and i still maintain that over the next decade, the asian sides will dominate.. ok i might be a year or 2 out with my prediction... but thats better then nostradamus acheived :D
