A respectable effort for the zimmer boys in the first game scoring 250 chasing 295. Can they cause a 33/1 upset ? Anything is possible after the Pakistan game. Could be showers around......
two zim 6's ?? must have a great chance, huge total to chase and a nice short boundary on one side. Bound to be a few maximums among the wickets id have thought.

taibu is ther only player of any quality in this entire line up, masakadza and taylor ain't too bad on their day. But the rest are garbage against quality bowling

Cheers chaps, worth a 2.5k turnaround that for me, not life changing but always nice when they go your way, especially when the margin is about 1 inch.

Always good to see differing views DE. I thought Saffas would have bowled first so that they had a go at setting a score and chasing a score in their 'practice matches'. How did you know?

If yo think of where Zim are in their development, SA are basically doing them a favour playing these matches against them(as they should) but the matches become a bit pointless for the Zims if they bat first, go ao 130 and Saffrs chase that 2 down in 20 overs.
At least this way they get afull bowling innings, so get development for their spinners/death bowling etc. And the Saffers get the full batting innings which they would want going into the coming series v England.
It doesn't always follow in matches between the major and minor teams but in these ones that arebasically friendlies it is the norm for the major team to bat first when it is a lead up to a more competitive series.

Worth looking out for the same effect in otehr major v minor team matches. When Australia decide to assist England with their development for instance. ;)

But it's true, playing against elite class internationa players like Watson and Hughes can only benefit the sub standard England players in the long term.

Just 8 or more 6's at 1.67 Tites. I thought SA would bat first and hit more than that at this venue v this attack. They hit 7 leaving me in the agonising position of needing one in the Zim innings. The Saffers actually had more than enough 6 attempts to get there but they mistimed loads that fell a bit short.
Zim were 8 down with none on the board and the whole thing was looking a bit sick, when one of the saffer seamers bowled a bouncer to Rape Rice who duly hooked it no higher than 10 feet and it travelled about 50 yards, hitting the boundary marker about 1 inch above the ground.
In hindsight it was probably no better bet than SA supremacy or overs on the wides, but I think it's a bet I'd take again in the circs.

Looks like Dean Jones and Allan Border are attempting to help the Windies with their development by playing a weakened side. Suggesting Watson and Hughes play ahead hussey, PMSL!!!
