Staying in Asia for this high calibre world championship event :)
Very strong field including the Tiger :0 ... but i aint afraid of Tigers B-) ... but i do like him in the field as we get amazing prices on the others. There is no cut to worry about this week as there is none :0 .. so we get a full 4 rounds for every player.

Here are my FAB 4 for this week, i am confident that we will get a very decent run from at least one of them at greattttt prices :)

Thomas Levet 260 £4.21 £1,090.39
Ref: 9356457728 Bet matched:08:59 04-Nov-09

260 £4.50 £1,165.50

Ricardo Gonzalez 480 £2.51 £1,202.29

480 £6.00 £2,874.00

490 £1.49 £728.61
Ref: 9356459119 Bet matched:08:59 04-Nov-09

Chih-Bing Lam 700 £10.00 £6,990.00
Ref: 9356460566 Bet matched:09:00 04-Nov-09

THOMAS LEVET @ 260.0 ....this frenchman is playing consistently this year...top 10 finish in singapore last week ... could go even better this time ;)

NICK DOUGHERTY @ 260.0...One of my favourite golfers...been a tad dissapointing since winning earlier this year.. but has potential to go low if he brings his A game ... i am happy to back him at this generous price and looking forward to a better performance this week ;)

RICCARDO GONZALEZ@ 480.0 :0 .... Amazing price on this big hitting argie who won for me at 400/1 a couple of months ago B-) ... i not backed him since... but on this course with 4 par 5s .. and 3 drivable par 4s.... his big hitting could again be a factor and i think he will have his best week since that win ;)

CHIH-BING LAM @ 700.0 ... Nice price ffor this exciting rising star of the asian tour..i backed him last week and he put in a creditable effort ... 700s on him is simply too big... it really would be rude to ignore him...i am not a rude man, so i won't ignore him .. nuff said ;)

My starting book, after commision therefore is:

LEVET + 2444.26
DOUGHERTY + 2432.00
GONZALEZ + 4536.16
C-B LAM + 6612.00
Rest -40 :(

IMPORTANT ...this starts 11 pm TONIGHT uk time ... so get yer stakes... and skates on :D

Good Luck :)

Update after round 1.. mixed news :) :(

Levet plays like i do :( and is +5 ... looks out of it already :(

Gonzalez finishes +2 .. needs to go low tomorrow to get into contention..is capable and so i not given up yet ;)

Chih Bing Lam got it to -3 at one stage .. but 2 late bogies sees him at -1, tied 28th .. not out of it and a good round tomorrow could see his 700.0 pre tourny odds look massive ;)

Best of the day for me was Dougherty .. he got it to -6 and was trading at 34.0 from opening 260.0 :0 .. but he too had 2 late bogies to finish at -4, tied 9th and just 4 off the lead with 3 rounds to go :)

Overall not a bad day ... my 700/1 and 260/1 shots done better then the likes of Harrington, poulter, ogilvy and Garcia :0

Leaving my book alone for now....further update to follow after tomorrows 2nd round :)

Good Luck :)

How long are you gonna keep this 'This weeks golf bets for my cricket buddies....' travesty going. Obviously whats happened here is youve had a couple of lucky punts which have earned you big and in you infinite wisdom have decided they were'nt complete luck but informed gusswork that must be shared with all and sundry....and whats happened now is that the longer you do it the actual likelyhood of random longshots coming in has shown itself and its not completely unfeasable that you'll never pick a random winner(or even a trade worth taking) ever again. But what do i know...perhaps its time to tell us about that gonzalez win again..;-)
Report Jason Bourne November 6, 2009 11:02 AM GMT
Sad to say, but he's right ^^^ Mickelson was the play of the week here, had the practice in Asia last week, got used to the conditions. Superb player to back at the odds on offer.
Report Dec1409 November 6, 2009 11:03 AM GMT
Really don't see what the problem is here. Anyone with half a brain knows what this thread is and I doubt they need it spelling out to them. You either do your research and have a decent bet or you have a couple of quid on LEVET because he's 'playing consistently this year'or DOUGHERTY because he's 'one of my favourite golfers' and in a startling revelation apparently unlike the other golfers in this world class field has the 'potential to go low if he brings his A game'. Why not leave them to it?
Report bigjoe November 6, 2009 11:07 AM GMT
whoopssandwiches.... thanks for that contribution mate :)

Ok, update after round 2 .. and its not good news :(

NONE of my fab 4 are under par.. and with the leaders at -10, including the tiger .. i guess its safe to say that its another losing week :(

Never mind, if whoopssandwiches will forgive me ... i will be trying again next week .. and the week after that.... and every week after that :D

Others can make their own minds up... as far as i am concerned, this fred is about finding MASSIVE price winners for modest stakes.....2 a year will do me ... that means i will settle for 50 losing weeks in a year as long as i can get those 1 or 2 winners at those MASSIVE prices.... If i do not pick 1 or 2 winners in next year, i will give up ... i promise ;)

Good Luck :)
Report bigjoe November 6, 2009 11:23 AM GMT
fair post december..... but at the end of the day.. this fred, weather guess work or not has been a money spinner for me :0

All the bets have been posted up front.. all the trading has been posted with reference numbers..... yes i am having a bad run :( .. but if you want to bring the 30 odd threads so far this year to the top.. you will see the following results:

33 threads.. stakes 40 quid per thread = 1320.00 staked in total

Returns so far:

5 weeks where i layed off my 40 quid stakes and had no loss weeks + 200 quid back :)

675.00 win on cabrera
2147 win on gonzo

Then there were the weeks where i traded out a gurenteed profit as a result of my fab 4 trading lower.. those weeks yielded:

337.00
201.00
137.00
95.00
70
57.00
9.50

So my account currently sstands at

Staked 1320
Returns 3728.50

Profit /loss + 2408

ROI of around 180% on that 1320 quid b-)

So, even after a very bad run, those that followed each thread would be doing nicely.... those that only followed half of them would be doing nicely .... wether you like my reasoning or not ... it works for me ....i can have annother 60 consecutive losing weeks and still be in profit :0

Like i said its others for decide if they want to keep following me for the next 60 weeks.... my reasing will remain the same.... the main thing is that at the prices i back at, they only need to stake a few rupees.. its a bit of fun.. and if the likes of you do not find it interesting ... the simple thing to do is ignore it i reckon ;)

Good Luck :)
Report Jason Bourne November 6, 2009 11:24 AM GMT
We all want you to do well but you're clearly losingn your touch, the reasoning truly does suck most of the time. A little more time analysing everything each week will turn this around, keep going.
Report bigjoe November 6, 2009 11:27 AM GMT
JB... i find players that are massive prices... the reason they are massive prices is either cos they are unknown or out of form.. so my strategy is to find those players and my reasoning is based on the fact that they are overpriced on their POTENTIAL, not form.

If i done it on form, i would get short prices.. there is NO value in golf on short prices.. thats what makes it different to most other sports :)
Report Jason Bourne November 6, 2009 11:31 AM GMT
there is NO value in golf on short prices

Completely disagree, i've traded out on the likes of Tiger and Phil and Kaymer at short odds this year alone, to great effect.
Report bigjoe November 6, 2009 11:56 AM GMT
Well done JB , i meant pre match value, not serious short term trading :) .. .. the likes of westwood garcia, harrington, els etc invariably are around 10.00- 20.00 pre tourny.... to justift those odds they would need to win 2 or 3 events a year just to break even .. and they would need to win about 15 events between them in a year for me to get a return of 180% on my investments if they were my fab 4 each week :(

Yes the downside of me doing 150/1 - 500/1 shots is that i will have a bad run now and again.. but its a strategy that has made me plenty of rupees in the last few years and i will stick with it.

Good Luck :)
Report bigjoe November 6, 2009 11:58 AM GMT
