last Jadeyja over, 5 more for Harbj, so looks like they're gonna need sommat special from one of the part timers, i think Aus should just let Hussey see off Harbj.

yeh i think so too, india are finished! Something that indian players need is the training of the South Africans and Australians, they are weak in the field and resemble pop stars not athletes, I must admit that they are talented but in a shane warne kind of manner it can work for a one off but a whole team...I thought they would come through today but the grit and depth of Australia is unparralled, I predicted an Australia series win but changed my mind last two matched due to injuries and hope conditions, I will only leave or back Australia never back against again :) good luck everyone hope you didn't do as badly as me on this series it would be tough to have

apart from 3 or 4 stars australia are made up of moderately talented players , however such is their attitude and commitment to the cause that what consistently makes them a world class team and mighty tough opponents . india however have 7or8 stars and through their lack of commitment and imo to play as a group/team that is the difference between them and aus and definitely not ability

oh agree. They have some big names who on their day are fantastic.
However havent seen much of it for quite a while.
Were knocked out early of 20/20 wc, champions trophy and now losing to Aussie side with half the side missing

imo steptoe it is because the indians play for themselves as individuals and not the team but with the aussies you know they wii always always nearly die trying for the cause collectively imo

sehwag is better than watson Gambhir is better than Marsh Tendulkar v Ponting is a tie Yuvraj is better than White Hussey is btter than Raina Dhoni is better than Manou Johnson is btter than Kumar Harby is usually better than Hauritz but has been utter w*nk all series Jadeja v Voges who cares Nehra v Bollinger tie Mckay v Patel couldn't call it, not seen enough of clint
That makes it 4-3 to india (giving Aus hauritz over harby this series) with 4 ties
imo of course

Absolute and total nonsense as usual, takes into no accounts merits of fielding. Also completely ignores batters who can bowl and bowlers who can bat. Complete nincompoop.

I would say that despite his fantastic talent I would give Watson edge over sehwag on current form.
Those knocks in CT semi and final were fantastic and has batted very well again here. Also bowled better than he did in England other than that first game.
Sehwag flatters to deceive too often. Has failed to go on so many times this series

sehwag only plays one way - droped a stinker last match too - of course hugely destructive player but not played a match winning innings this series has he ? watson despite bowling like a drain in the first match has come back well bowling wise

A couple of good knocks against an awful england side and a possibly worse Kiwi side does not put you on a par with a man who has converted his last 9 test century's into 150+ equalling the Dons record

Reason Aus went 3-2 up was probably the fielding, particularly the runouts. Despite Sachin's undoubted brilliance you have to have Ponting these days as he is a genuine danger at all times in the field, you just can't hit it anywhere near him.
If you worked it out on a player's performance points spread you would go with Watson over Sehwag pretty much every time in current ODIs as he's bowling pretty well and getting important wickets.
Aussies have consistently stepped up when they have needed to at crucial times in this series- completely the opposite of the Ashes it has to be said- but Watson has been MILES better than Sehwag in this series.
If it's who you would rather have as an opener though it's Sehwag, no contest at all.

if it is sehwags day he will murder u - but it is a big if as he always gives the bowlers a chance and arguably is too loose and takes too many risks
highly unlikely to match tendulkars 170 odd last match as he would have given it away before then as sadly for injuns sachin did when needing 1 a ball for 19 runs

The argument was not who was better in this series it's quite obvious sehwag has underperformed by that reasoning you could say cameron white or jadeja is better than sehwag. The argument was who was the better player, sehwag by a mile for me as an opening batsman. 1 spot available at the top of the innings between those two, you pick sehwag every time and if you don't you don't have a clue CG.

dont agree sewage flatters to deceive too often watson is a dangerous hitter, bowls better and fields better and is younger and probably has more improvement in him - u prob pick him every time from here on in

Your argument was that Watson is a better ODI player than Sehwag, I'd argue that's not true at the moment. Sehwag wouldn't get you 10 wickets in a series like this and is always liable to fail.
Nehra shouldn't be anywhere near a top international side, he has cost them at least one match and probably two in this series alone with his catastrophic fielding. Reminds me of this guy called Fairchild I saw in a school game once. How someone without even the most basic co-ordination can play for a top 3 side in the world is beyond me completely.

Has done very well for aussies in last 2 Champions trophy winning teams over last 3 years.
Not doubting for a second the talent of sehwag but still take watsons consistency
I would still back watson over longer termHas good odi stats with bat and ball Has done very well for aussies in last 2 Champions trophy winning teams over last 3 years. Not doubting for a second the talent of sehwag but still take watsons consistenc
yes and sehwag's ipl form has been largely disappointing - simply goes too hard all the tiem and hits one up in the air
the talent is there but the brain is sadly lacking - a bit like verdasco in tennis

But of negative stigma towards Watson on his past coming into play.
In 24 ODI matches Over the past 12 months Watson has -
Scored 1013 runs at an average of 50.65
Taken 29 wickets at an average of 21.41
Hard to argue a case for many players to be included above him Alf would have thought.

8 of those games were v a very bad england side, 6 against this absolute garbage india attack, probably the worse they've had in 5 years. Not exactly had a tough time of it has he.

Away series to India & England Pakistan make up those numbers Doug.
Apart from SA & maybe Sri Lanka who would he need to play that would be harder....
A guy that can post those numbers whilst opening the batting & being a more than handy bowler gives his side so much versatility & depth. Worth there weight in gold.
But hey, sometimes old stereotypes are harder for some than others to give up.

Australia far too good. Even their second string team is far too good for India.
If India really want to be a force in world cricket, then they need to work on getting two things right.
Finding 2 frontline opening bowlers. Sharma is a gun - he just needs the right coaching, whilst Nehra, Kumar and particularly Munaf are plodders.
Secondly, the middle order batsmen need to learn how to tough it out.
Ah well, no point crying over spilt win. Australia too good, back to the drawing board for India.

they have to get professional about their fielding. it has been worth 20-40 runs to aussie in some of these games in this series. drops, lazy running, no backing up, they had it all.
appalling.
