I've got a brill idea and one which I am thinking of taking to the Powers that Be i/c the Laws of the game. Not sure whether I go to the MCC, the ICC or the BCCI should anyone know?

Anyway, I'll let you into my little secret. Since T20 is very much here to stay I think it would be of benefit to the longer forms of the game if the Laws were tweaked to increase the entertainment value of popgun cricket and to differentiate it from the propper stuff.

What you do is simple(s): On the fall of the 10th wicket, the last man standing is permitted to bat on until either he is out or the game is concluded (whichever lasts longer). However, he would be foolish to take a single since the bowler would have an empty end to bowl at. That would be highly entertaining in itself should the batter be stupid enuf to take a single; imagine Mugaf Patel or whoever missing the stumps on the said delivery and the remaining batsman scampering a single whilst the keeper muffs it up :^0

He would therefore be advised to take 2s or hit boundaries. At the end of the over, he is permitted to take strike from the other end etc etc. Very close games could become hillarious :D

So, what do you think fellas? Should I take the idea further with the Big Cheeses i/c the Laws? :)

Like it ted.

slight tweak tho, ;-) if no single is scored off the last ball of the over, then bowler (next over) has a free ball to hit the wicket. (opposite to the free hit)

if they miss, then the batsman can cross for no run for the remaining 5 balls of the over.

it's not bad ted but why don't you suggest that on last wicket, the batsman and the bowler rip the 3 stumps out from each end and knock seven sacks of shyte out of each other.

last man standing gets 4 runs...or the wicket.

We played similar rules when I was a kid in the schoolyard Ted, only you could run singles then walk back. We referred to it as 'last man gets his tucker.' Ahhh...memories. :)

Double the runs if you score off your helmet. Would make entertaining viewing with a head on bat stance looking for 16 off the last over.

and triple runs off the box

if you survive a third umpire decision you have to face the next ball blindfold. tcrowd would luvvit.

I have two suggestions;

1 Every time an umpire makes a howler they have to remove an article of clothing.

2 Mandatory introduction of lady umpires at all games

i got a better idea.. do away with powerplay overs :0 .. instead, for those overs, bowlers only have one stump to bowl at :D
