Many a Sunday you could see them play. They played live they never mimed. Some people used to come out of their houses and have a hymn sing along with them
They used to get many a penny out of the locals .for those less fortunate than us. Yes there was alot of poor people in my day . Many Alcoholics couldn't afford to get drunk in my day .They were at an all time low in my day

We were that poor me and my brother had to share one scarf between us for our journey to school
If you think that's bad the 6 brothers next old to me had to share one between them and it was only the same size as ours
I'll never forget the date the 30th Jan 1953 when the youngest brother choked to death when the eldest at the other end of the scarf pulled it hard to get his share and choked him .
The sad bunk was they only noticed he was dead .untill he fell on the toilet floor when one wanted a wee

The Salvation Army were always a very good organisation they always helped people
We don't seem to see or hear of them so much nowadays a pity.
I think everybody needs a bit of suffering in their lives to make them a better person...but not too much.
People nowadays seem to have everything and yet it just makes them more selfish...a pity people are like that
You are still a nice man Do Wah
