If you're in the NorthWest the weather my be affecting the signal.
Or you could try rebooting the Sky box.
Or maybe a neighbour's trees have grown and could be obstructing the signal.

My dish is in the hedge.

Maybe some entrepreneur could design the dish to look like a giant flower and beautify neighbourhoods.
Report BARROWBOY • April 29, 2019 1:18 PM BST
Wasn’t there one a good few years ago that was much smaller ,square & a grey colour.i remember them being easier on the eye.
Report Just Checking • April 29, 2019 1:20 PM BST
You get flat dishes. Imho they should make them different colours and flat, like "brick red effect" "white harling" ... "council house grey" etc LaughWink

Barrowboy, was the squarial the dish you recall?
https://www.theguardian.com/notesandqueries/query/0,,-185028,00.html

I got my first satellite dish for free. When the Today newspaper was going & sky just started, they had a competition, where you had to write a slogan. I was always quite proud of my winning entry - "It's the one dish the wife wont have to wash". I later read that the first received 10,000 entries won a free dish.Sad

I got a zone 2 dish years ago, when I had intermittent signal problems in bad weather. It lead to better reliability. The zone 2 dishes are bigger & were designed for more remote areas, where the signal is not so strong.

Yeh squarial rings a bell stow, might have been something to do with BT?
Report BARROWBOY • April 29, 2019 3:00 PM BST
Ah just read your link stow.it was BSB rival dish.very technical! didn’t realise there was so much to a dish.
Report Jack Hacksaw • April 29, 2019 3:15 PM BST
I'd have thought that all areas were as remote as each other...from space.

You're not wrong. But if worded differently/accurately he has a point. Satellites sit geostationary down towards the equator (literally on perhaps, I think) and have a footprint and it's weaker the further north or away from the core signal. Further away, inferior angle passing through more atmosphere. So a bigger satellite dish IS more useful and may have a noticably better reception in say northern Scotland than one far closer at a better angle in say the Isle of Wight.
Report Just Checking • April 29, 2019 4:14 PM BST
So it's not the remoteness (as in you live in a farmhouse out of a city) but the earth location, and it does matter, and can matter a lot.
