Just wondered if any on here were Godparents, and, if so, how closely related to the child, how much involvement, communication or contact they have with the children etc.
Also, how much, if any, is spent on them for birthdays Christmas etc.
Just trying to get a steer as it has been suggested I am not doing enough!

i am a godfather, my god daughter is a grandmother now.
i never had much involvement, but would have done if required by her, or ,as
asked by her parents should something nasty happen to them.

they seemed happy for me to be not involved, i still bump into her from time to time
we get on quite well as it happens but if we didnt i would have still been happy to
help out, if required.

some people pick godparents as a niceity; some really delve & think before deciding. It all depends on the relationship you have with the childs parents; if you are very close then i would treat presents to the godchild as i would to their parents. I am very close to my godchilds parents and would buy her the moon if it could be acquired
