I will agree on Gene Hackman. Steiger was a ham job.
I'm a bit gay for Paul Newman, great actor & disturbingly handsome.

Probably won't get to see that much of him from now, but Kevin Spacey has been good in everything he's been in

Is this the market without Dwayne Johnson?

Gene Hackman is a good choice, he was excellent in Unforgiven as well.

^ And in The Firm.

Hackman is a good shout. I'm struggling to think of any bad movies he's been in. That tells you a lot.

Rommel, in case you haven't seen it yet, or anyone else for that matter, the remake of 'True Grit' with Jeff Bridges as Rooster is on Film 4 tonight @ 21.00 and it's very good indeed.

Humphrey Bogart
In Casablanca especially , he’s wonderful and immortal

That looks really good Grant, somehow I've not seen "Owning Mahoney" before but it's now on my 'to do' list.

tyvm slip, yep seen it but might tune in,the only jb movie that didnt do anything for me was the country and western singer one-few years ago

Thanks for that slippy, I haven`t seen that but will give it a watch, although I try to avoid remakes. I wonder if g2d is reading this

... if you are, I hope you and the mutt are well mate.

Gene Hackman is a terrific shout but amazed that French Connection hasn`t been mentioned. Popeye Doyle.

Have to agree with the Gene Hackman call, especially for his work in the 70's. Watch him The Conversation and The French Connection II, just superb.

Presumably this is the market without Daniel Day Lewis. Easily the best of modern times. Gene Hackman is excellent I agree, though less versatile. Leonardo the best of the younger crop though Revenant is one of his worst films.

Yes I agree that Daniel Day Lewis is a brilliant actor, if I had to choose one film that I could see again it would be 'There Will Be Blood' which to me is an absolute masterpiece of a film.

i think jimmy cagney was my fav old timer
