Detectives investigating the murder of a Japanese man during a series of random attacks in Dundalk, Co Louth have said terrorism is one line of inquiry.
An 18-year-old Egyptian man has been arrested on suspicion of the knife murder and subsequent assaults on two local men - one with a knife and one with a fence pole.
Gardai have not established a definite motive for the violent spree in the Avenue Road area around 9am on Wednesday, but Chief Superintendent Christy Mangan said a potential terror link was being investigated.

Has anyone come along yet to say that lots of knife crime has been committed in Ireland over the years, and this no different.
I expect the man, probably known as Paddy Sadat has a long history of being a mentally ill lone wolf, which is why it was absolutely essential for him to be out and about in a small Irish town. Although a talented Gaelic Footballer, it was known that he had recently been bullied by a man who called his pint of Murphy's a "p***".

It used to be easy to avoid the threat of violent attacks - just avoid pubs and clubs late at night.
unfortunately these invading scumbags don't drink alcohol and are up at the crack of dawn, so you're just as likely to be murdered in broad daylight, anywhere.

but why would they do that after being given succour as we are supposedly taught to give as 'christians' charity etc??
Fella was refused asylum in UK and travelled to Belfast. Stabbed Japanese lad in the back as he was walking along with earphones in.
So many victims in the last couple of years because people were waved on through to another country instead of detention and deportation.
It is best to look upon every person from these type of countries as a potential murderer and not let them in

If someone had asked you even five years ago, what are the odds of someone from Japan being stabbed to death (allegedly) by a teenage asylum seeker from Egypt in the little town of Dundalk, those odds would have been astronomical.
Today, appalling crimes like this are such a routinely predictable daily occurrence they barely register more than 10 seconds on the national TV news.

What I would give for the **** Ambassador to say 'WTF have you just allowed to happen?'
Like 1,000s of others he has come across from England and just walked into my Country not even stopped and asked who he was, or how he arrived . Nigerians have come here enmass from England, we have no connection by land or sea with them , they come via England, 99% of them are unemployed, yet they are able to send over a quarter of a BILLION yes that's right, back to Nigeria each year ..Amazing little Country is Ireland. We have people in hallways on trollies in our hospitals atm, yet people who have no right to be here can send HUGE sums back home each year and not a question asked...
On the plus side ROI will be a force on the footie field in 2 or 3 decades so it is a small price to pay
