I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be a thread on this topic (unless I missed it)!

As usual it would look like I'm too late for Bitcoin  but, one of my son's former work colleagues left a couple of years ago, and has made seven figures trading it.

Another has turned  £50.00 into £15k.

I'm going to chuck in the minimum £250.00 but looking to dip in to others e.g. Etherium, Monero, Ripple and OmiseGo.....

Any experience please?

Worth a punt as long as you're aware you could lose the lot in the blink of an eye.

Bound to tumble at some point.  Soon.

When any financial market is being hyped up by the MSM it's time to get out (if you are in) and usually unwise to invest at that point.

All these comments regards "flash in the pan" etc etc etc have clearly not looked at the foundation of cryptocurrencies and how they work,ie the blockchain,a mathematic ledger than is uncorruptable and provable in every transaction, the only way its a "flash in the pan" is if the big banks, who ultimately stand the most to lose as people become their own banks, cut the blood sucking middle men out of their transactions by using cryptocurrencies.

I'd have thought seeing as this is betfair, the benefits of a person to person currency and the danger it poses to the parasitic bankers would have been glaringly obvious?

So be prepared for scare story after scare story, its all sponsored by the banks(central banks included) who have the most to lose,in fact the UK with its reliance on the banking sector is the worst placed economy in the world as people realise the bit of paper in their pocket is just that,a piece of paper.

sorry some of that post got lost, meant to say,the only way it is a flash in the pan is if the banks somehow find a way to crush it...

Foinavon  the MSM is plastered with bankers saying it's a tulip bubble. I haven't seen any advising putting a bit chunk of your savings in it.
Report Foinavon • December 21, 2017 4:19 PM GMT
Thanks, shrewd dude.
That's true, howard, but the talk of massive gains is bound to tempt some people in and not all have been advising to steer clear. We just don't know how far this will run but hardly a speculative investment for amateurs.
Traditional currencies have government backing, not that that's any guarantee of course, but supported by state assets and the ability of the state to collect taxes.

Foinavon we are on a gambling forum. You are the only one mentioning "investing". Yes you would be crazy to invest in something as volatile as cryptocurrency just like you would a lot of volatile fiat currencies. That doesn't mean people can't put there gambling/trading hat on like they do on here and try and take some gambles knowing that like on here they could lose all their money.

Verge is up about 400% since I bought some 5 days ago. Now tomorrow it could tank and I could lose all my money but that's pretty much the same as me having an antepost bet on here knowing that I could profit long term or short term but equally could lose my money tomorrow when the horse gets injured.

I tend to forget that people tolerated different levels of risk. Good luck with your cryptocurrency gambling, 400% sounds nice.

I've been thinking of taking a punt here but only for £1k.
Was going to speak to the bank manager but anyone here know how best to do it and are there related costs?
