New series.
Following the death of Elizabeth I, King James of Scotland claims the English throne, and the country goes to war with Catholic Spain.
As a result, English Catholics are persecuted and driven into hiding, but after witnessing the brutal means by which the Crown intends to punish his people for practicing their faith, recusant Catholic Robert Catesby devises a treasonous plot to assassinate King James.
However, he must first enlist the aid of stalwart allies, and heads to Brussels to seek the help of a hardened war veteran named Guy Fawkes. Three-part historical drama, starring Kit Harington as Catesby - his own ancestor - alongside Liv Tyler, Mark Gatiss, Derek Riddell and Tom Cullen

It's the BBC so you wouldn't be surprised would you. It's not like catholocism was incredibly nasty to "heretics".
You should watch the German production on bbc4 earlier this week, "Reformation" about the rise of Martin Luther. That was about him being sick of their corruption and arrogance and of course .. killing people they didn't like! (Actually there were two such programs this week, there was another one about the guy who first translated the bible into English who was hunted down and killed ... by the catholic church).

meant to say WASNT incredibly nasty to heretics. May I also cite the Spanish inquisition, and their use of comfortable chairs on people. Which nobody expected.
Is that Steven Tyler's daughter? Any pics of her from the programme?
Yes Liv Tyler was in it but she didn't feature that much so far. God I loved her when she was an elf!
When I play my s3x games, she often features. It's a stretch to play all the parts, but I'm quite talented :)
