Tesco are taking them for another week.  Banks & the PO are taking them for a while longer.

The Royal British Legion have said they will accept them for their Poppy Day Appeal.

What better way to use them up than to donate them to the Poppy Appeal?

Thats a matter of opinion as to how much good comes from that tbh, many believe its very bad value.

As for the hysteria about some deadline, its my understanding that you will be able to pay them into your bank account indefinately.

Not like they need Brexit to help the degradation of the value of the currency, printing money like a third world banana republic when the books didn't balance was enough for that.
97% of world finance is debt.
Voltaire said all paper money returns to its intrinsic value - nothing.

I've still got about £20 in case local coin-op machines have not been converted, and OP's poppy day suggestion sounds a good idea.

I've also got about £50 in fakes that I dutifully weeded out over the years. They can go in the bin -- not sure why I kept them really. Some of the fakes are so bad the forgers ought to be locked up away from sharp objects or shoelaces for their own protection. Not pressed properly, heads and tails sides not matched up and so on.

ive seen a few mis matches sold on ebay

chances are more may turn up now they are not legal tender

there were some awful fakes but weight was the issue when banking them
not their appearance

thousands of parking meters around the country still havnt been updated to take the new coin yet councils are saying that fines will still be given if parking not paid for, looking forward to the first case that goes to court.
