Safest of all would be to prohibit large lorries on the roads of the UK and offer them full use of the railway network during the hours of darkness...

One train driver can control over a hundred lorries worth, and no need for any technological breakthroughs either...

Cool

Test drove a volvo today with pilot assist 2.Car actually drives itself for a while. Takes quite a leap of faith to trust entirely.Definitely the shape of things to come.

Presumably it completes routine maintenance on itself, changes punctures, tachographs, knows when it delivers whether to draw in or reverse and completes loading and unloading without a hitch(no pun intended). Does it recognise rail barrierless rail crossings and ring the emergency services when involved in an accident? What could possibly go wrong? Scared
