It takes a one minute google of the Indian MP she keeps interviewing to see how objective HE is about Britains role in India. About as objective as a Corbyn on the benefits of communism. Well done BBC. If you look at the wiki article for "divide and rule" and the British being to blame for them all turning on each other, one of the things she kept stating as fact, the only solitiary link they give to "prove" Britain did in india is .. well guess what. You'll never guess.
The only link is to a book by the same Indian politiican she kept getting on in this program, who clearly has it in for Britain. Fantastic!
that's right, the british invaded india with the sole intention of improving the lot of the average indian. and when they left their sole concern was fairness.

it is really interesting isnt it? what should we be proud of and what should we be ashamed of?
we only ever get told the history that is acceptable to the establishment, is that the truth?

I never feel the need to bathe in the reflected glory of our ancestors, nor will anyone make me aplogise for any bad they did. History is nowt to do with me.

It's a tricky one. Do I feel personal guilt for what our ancestors did? no, but there is no getting away from how much our country took from the colonies, especially India. The wealth that India lost is staggering. My Great grandfather was in India in the late 1890s for two years with the Royal Highlanders. Was he a colonialist? technically I suppose, but like a lot of people in the Victorian era (and most eras) he was probably trying to provide for his family the best he could.
Partition was rushed through no doubt - had it been given more time and consideration a lot of lives could have been saved. The person given 'credit' for drawing the partition lines had never visited India!
