Seemed to be a thing in the American South, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, P.J.Proby. And Chuck Berry served 2 years in prison for transporting a 14-year-old girl across a state line - when he was 33.

You can't compare Presley to PJ Proby.

Elvis was a good looking chap with a distinctive voice.  The rest was just clever marketing.  People say his songs influenced a lot of modern music, and that is true, but Elvis didn't write them; he was just the singer.  As an individual he was/is vastly overrated.
