Little known pirate fact - the BLACK skull and crossbones actually meant they were trying to be nicer pirates, they'd let you live and just take your stuff or ship.
If they raised a RED flag, they were going to show no mercy and you were probably about to be killed.

Nowadays they'd have to raise a Rainbow flag or C4 news and the BBC would be on their case and they'd be sent on an pirate LBGT awareness course....
