Ones in Edinburgh look like they are all different
and have been planted in fields.

The sheds look a bit poor. A woodland full of these would look better, designed as ski lodges, never took off.

*designed as ski lodges. I like cubist modular buildings, and pods.
Report Crisp77 • August 11, 2017 2:12 PM BST
They must be a decent standard because they are entering one in the shed Olympics. The first six they made were not great but they expect to be going for gold with the next one.

Grin

Saddo they look weird but would be warm

Crispo they cost 30k each it says
i thought be cheaper especially if
buying 10 or more.I wouldn't mind one
parked up the fields/woods my end be good
at night entertaining the ladies with a fire and
some liquor.
Report OwnBrain • August 11, 2017 6:03 PM BST
They will get trashed no doubt and then
the next occupants will say not moving
in there.I think it's a good idea if they
can keep it to people who look after them.Maybe
people who work but can't afford anywhere else. They
have said no addicts or heavy addicts so they must be
trying to keep them up to scratch.Midges will attack
them in summers though whilst in the woods.Need a fire
to smoke them out.
Report Coachbuster • August 11, 2017 8:07 PM BST
1.01 they'll get trashed if they don't vet the occupants

Local house prices to head south, book opened on date first one to be featured surrounded by yellow tape on the local news.
Report OwnBrain • August 11, 2017 9:00 PM BST
Yeah they need vetted for sure.Know homeless flats
proper wee flats one bedrooms no older than 8 year.
1st occupant was one of my old mates and he kept it
like you would a normal house as it was a 1 bed flat
anyway.but new occupants have ruined them with graffiti
on the walls.no need and these where not huts.walk in showers
kitchen , no sharing with anyone.now wrecks.
Report Just Checking • August 11, 2017 9:28 PM BST
People do fall on hard times and I dread to think what it would be like if you had no good support network and suddenly had no options.
People lose jobs, divorce, get a drink problem and become homeless, many reasons. But on the other hand as OwnBrain says, homeless can totally wreck nice homes, seen it myself. Deliberately damage it, absolutely no need. It seems so ... ungrateful, get given a nice place for free and wreck it? :(
Report Coachbuster • August 11, 2017 9:43 PM BST
everyone should have a housing history and that should list things such as deliberate defaults, damage, evictions -all which go against you on a points system and those tenants otoh who are more respectful  stand a chance of getting the first pick.

Let the trashy  tenants sleep on the  streets
Report Coachbuster • August 11, 2017 9:47 PM BST
some landlords don't care who they take in - if they have to abide by a points system ( bit like car licence  rules ) then they can't by law accept them.

There is a right family of rummuns half way up the street  - every anti social act comes from that house but the landlord doesn't seem to care /or maybe can't act anymore.
Report OwnBrain • August 11, 2017 9:55 PM BST
Too much people know how to mess with the system
they know saying they are homeless when really at
parents or a mates house will get them a place faster ( priority ) in Scotland.
Wreck it then move on to next area and repeat as they cant be fooked cleaning.
Report OwnBrain • August 11, 2017 9:56 PM BST
It used to be pints up here but the priority thing
came in and now you would need kids or have some jail
time to get a place quicker.Private landlords are a big
problem they know they can shovel them 2-3-4 homes out to the
council and get paid no matter what happens in the house.

Money for rent goes straight in the occupant
of the man/womans bank now.So many people are fcking
up yeah we can blame them but if your
skint and you get 500 rent would you go
hungry? or worse ?

The houses are mostly for sale

The change to pay housing benefit to the tenant not the landlord was stupid. Was obvious so at the time, such a bad move. Labour brought that in I think? I still don't understand how they thought it was an improvement other than a patronising "it makes people feel responsible" way.
Some people are just totally useless with even the basic concepts of managing money .. which is how Corbyn, the SNP, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela etc continue to get support... I still don't get why
Report Dr Crippen • August 12, 2017 11:32 AM BST
I noticed a flat to let.
It seemed to be on the market a long time and the rent was in line, so I took a peek.
Nothing wrong at all.

So why hadn't it been snapped up?
A friend enlightened me.
There was no shortage of punters.
The reason why it was a slow mover, was because the landlord had been bitten once and was very careful who he rented it out to in future.

If you have nice property you want to let, I suggest you make every effort to find out just who it is you are letting it to.
For every rogue landlord you'll find 100 rogue tenants.
Yet the law only protects tenants.
Report Dr Crippen • August 12, 2017 11:43 AM BST
The decision to pay housing benefit directly to the tenant was not opposed by all landlords by any means.

In a case where the tenant has been claiming housing benefit and had a job on the side. The ruling would be that the housing benefit during that period was an overpayment.
This could be re-claimed from the landlord. Oh yes.
The landlord would have to return every penny of rent that was judged to be an overpayment. And straight away as well.
Just imagine a woman who put her boyfriend up for so many nights a week and didn't declare it. She could be judged to making a false claim as well.

But by paying the housing benefit to the tenant who then paid it to the landlord. The landlord would be completely in the clear.
The tenant can be as crooked as they like, and the landlord wouldn't have to pay a penny back.
Report Dr Crippen • August 12, 2017 11:46 AM BST
Rent paid directly to the landlord, is vulnerable to being claimed back in the event of a misdemeanour by the tenant.

Rent money paid directly to the tenant, who then pays it to the landlord is not.
