I think because of the loss in revenue from CD sales in recent years caused by pirate downloading of music from P2P websites, bands are making up the loss by charging probably double or treble what they would normally do at their gigs to compensate for this loss. Let's face it, this seems to be working as attendances at the gigs of a lot of the major artists are very often sold out!
