Depends where local is, £3.50 would be pushing it.

The minute you put artisan in front of anything, it means you pay extra for a 5hit product.

Aye, they'd have you thinking it's all dusted with ground unicorn horn.

£6.25 is the answer. I usually only eat bread at the weekend and wife usually brings it in. Sausage rolls are fantastic but at £2.85 a pop so they should be.

never heard of greggs ?
Report Jack Hacksaw • December 23, 2016 2:35 PM GMT
Place near me used to sell hot medium sized sausage rolls for £2.10.  They were the best I have ever tasted though. 90% meat 10% pastry.
Report TheChaser • December 23, 2016 2:37 PM GMT
90% meat you say old chap but what weight
Report GoOnThen • December 23, 2016 2:37 PM GMT
Funnily enough mm my favourite loaf used to be a harvester from Greggs. However they changed my local one to accommodate more tables, stopped baking bread on site and dramatically cut down their bread offering. Alas my beloved harvester disappeared in the name of progress. That said I've just used a white sliced bought yesterday at the Coop for 50p to make one of these little beauties...

The Roymeister wouldn't shirk the confrontation.

Worth every penny ...No added chemicals in flour, hand made, no processed machinery, quality sausage meat and supported a local hard working Business ....may it long continue

Rex left his job in the city to pursue his passion. Fair play to him. Although judging by his prices I'm not sure his income has suffered too much of a drop. Laugh
Report TheChaser • December 23, 2016 2:59 PM GMT
I watched the video of him making Chocolate Brownies and no gloves ( right turn off to be fair )

But Rex and his team like to save cash and make lotta monies so gloves would put dents in profits i suppose

Thanks Chaser. I didn't look at the website myself. His wife is bit of a sort though if that helps at all.

Bought an artisan loaf about 3 years ago for £3 to see what all the fuss was about.

I expected it to be carp but it was absolutely delicious.

Decided to buy a breadmaking machine and make my own. I now buy the loaf mix readymade, just need to lob it in and switch in on. Fresh bread every Saturday morning - one of the decisions I ever made.

Works out at the same price as a normal loaf

i went into this nice italian artisan bakery and asked what was in their fancy breads, they pulled out a business folder with the recipes for each loaf - all of them had soy flour in them? so much for artisan bread. everybody is scrambling to the bottom. Cost counters.

An uncle of mine had a bakery just outside of Slough , opposite  The Stag. The oven had to be kept going over the Christmas Holiday so he cooked the turkeys for the neighbourhood in it. They were done to perfection.
