This conpany WIZZ AIR cancelled my flights to Budapest Xmas Markets as they were consolidating their flights. They offered to rebook the flights if they coukd -- but FEBRUARY was their option !!! I asked if the Xmas Markets would still be on in Feb ??? Of course not !! I then had to phone my hotel and cancel and my airport transfers in Budapest.. Luckily i had both numbers. They then promised some compensation to me 120% back to my credit card. Fair enough i thought . 3 weeks later it hadnt arrived per Credit card company -- so I phoned s-WIZZ air -- They had creditted me they said -- i disagreed -- Then they said to an account with WIZZ AIR so i could book other flights with them in the future !! I told them i wouldnt fly with WIZZ air ever again !! So they said you can pass it to your family or friends !! My answer is written on a piece of paper -- basically i told them to shove it -- HARD !! Said none if my family or friends woukd be travelling with such a non-caring company . In the end the credit card company are involved and they are now refunding me to my credit card , but ONLY what i've paid -- no compensation as promised and nothing for the total inconvenience of losing my break and the phone calls i have had to make. I suggest you avoid WIZZ AIR like the plague. They certainly dropped us right in it !!!!
I am today -- But they are still to be avoided like the Plague !! WIZZ Air -- wreckers of holiday plans -- Last minute cancellations of your flights our speciality !!

The same happened to me a few years ago with Ryanair. I managed to get a couple of return flights to France for £60 on a new route, just a little gutted when they cancelled the flight 3 weeks before as it was a good deal or so I thought. Very lucky I didn't book a non-refundable hotel room otherwise I would have been pissed.
Unfortunately if you pay less you only end up with less.

A Wizzair plane got struck by lightning the other day. It was actually heading to Brussels but diverted to Budapest. So perhaps you could book one to Belgium and hope it gets hit by lightning?

Not the ideal situation for you. I've used them before and think they are a pretty good airline.
Some experiences can be pretty anecdotal though. I doubt I'll be flying BA domestic any time soon as the last 3 times I have flown BA in the last 6 weeks all 3 flights have been delayed. One for just over 2 hours, the next for 2 and a half hours and the last for 15-20 mins. Probably not what most people experience when flying BA but will be taking the cheaper Easyjet flights next time I fly to London.

I've been all over Europe with them, many flights cheaper than the taxi from the airport. last year Copenhagen and on to Warsaw for less than a tenner. When I think of how much it cost to travel Europe by train 20-odd years ago. They are not exactly committed to traveller comfort, but for those prices, I can't fault them really. I wish their carry-on baggage allowance was bigger, though.
