I have said this before and will say again. Businesses don't have a religion. Their purpose is to make money. You take off the halal label and you'll see the difference. They suit their product to the demographics. If they stop putting halal they'll go out of business soon and guess who will take over the market? Then you'll be complaining about them.
And if you look at the percentage of muslims under 5 years of age, you'll realize the halal label is not going anywhere.

Sorry, I didn't get your point. I just read about both the procedures. There is hardly any difference. Both involve cutting same 3 parts with a knife. Muslims are actually less strict as their animals can be slaughtered by jews or christians and it will still be halal, as long as the method was correct(which is the same for jews and muslims) and Gods name is taken before slaughtering. Also, acording to what i know, my friends have told me they have no problem consuming meat that is kosher, even if it doesn't say halal because kosher > halal(in terms of prerequisites).
As per my knowledge, the muslims(lets say when they were in minority here) had a hard time finding halal meat here as the govts did not allow slaughter. It was then agreed as a middle ground that the animal will be stunned(gvt approved way) and since we claimed that after stunning the animal didn't feel any pain, the muslims had no difficulty in getting the alaughter part approved as the animal wasn't feeling any pain(accoding to us) anyways. hence the slaughterhouses that produce halal meat have to stun because our governments force them to. The muslim way does not involve any stunning at all and consider it animal cruelty.
Are you saying that kosher meat in Europe or UK involves only slaughter and no stunning?
