In London tomorrow for Shrek World with the kids. It is right next to London Aquarium and London Eye (done both). Anything else nearby - ideally walking distance but would use tube if something was decent enough to warrant it - that is free or cheap to do that the kids would like?

If in Waterloo make sure you visit Masters fish and chip shop(look out for the superfish sign). The best fish n chip shop in London and very cheap.Coming out of Waterloo station turn right and its about 400 yds down on the left hand side of the road.

Go to the Old Vic and see "The Caretaker" featuring Timothy Spall:

"Disturbed handyman Aston has invited an irascible tramp to stay with him at his brother’s jumbled London flat. At first it seems that the manipulative guest will take advantage of his vulnerable host. But when Aston’s brother Mick arrives, an enigmatic power struggle emerges between the three men that is in equal parts menacing, touching and darkly comic."

Just over the river - all free, but brief

Smallest police station in world Trafalgar Sq
10 Adam Street for photos/selfies
Narrowest alley in London (Brydes something)

Google them

Further away Toy Museum in Bethnal Green is great for kids and parents - famous toys through the ages
You had one of them.....what is it?

Just spotted Imperial War Museum is 15 minutes walk away. The boy likes tanks, soldiers, planes - surely a winner?

Good choice

Churchill War Rooms fairly close. Take a boat at Westminster Bridge for the Tower of London.
