They justed show a mob trying to force a gate down on the macedonian border, the police on the other side remain calm until the mob, using implements, start to physically break the gate down, and then, as a last resort, they fire AFAIK a single tear gas canister into the mob.

The BBC reporters response is ... to show a sad kid who'd got some in her eyes, boo hoo.
The implication of course being that the macedonians are bad for protecting their own border,

Not that her parents are bad for placing kids close enough to this rioting mob in the first place for tear gas to affect her.

FFS. What are the macedonians supposed to do if they've a mob forcing their way through?
Just lie down and throw open their gates because protecting their borders affects BBC sensibilities?

And just to drive home their point, they returned to the on site correspondent, who informed us
that  6 children had been affected by the tear gas.
No figures were available on how many adults were affected, or how many non Syrians were in the crowd.
We did get a nice shot of a woman cooking on an open fire though.

Having watched the clip again on the 10pm news, the BBC hand wringers make a thing about the fact the tear gas cannister hits a migrant. That'll be the guy at the front of the mob, who as he is hit, was literally mid throwing something straight at the police a few feet away?

You don't have to be a nutter to hate the BBC, they twist the news the way they want.

It's madness isn't it?

The lionisation of the unruly and the thuggish, as if the very act of claiming refugee status (never, ever challenged by any mainstream media to my knowledge) confers moral superiority and therefore a tolerance of 'anything goes'.

Usually I'm very wary of blaming victims - it's the classic defence used by the bully and powerful - but in this case it's hard to tell who the victims are.
Report Facts • March 1, 2016 10:14 AM GMT
I think children ( some under 5) being tear gassed are definitely the victims.
Report rogerthebutler • March 1, 2016 10:42 AM GMT
Indeed Facts, I mean some of them have come hundreds of miles, through benign countries, where their human rights would be respected and they could have engaged with a well tried and tested refugee programme, enshrined in UN law.

Instead the little mites are forced to take part in lawless mob antics, in front of TV cameras. I mean where there's a near-riot going on, what parent or responsible adult wouldn't be distancing children as far away as possible from this kind of danger?
Report Clouseau • March 1, 2016 10:50 AM GMT
That's true Facts but who are they the victims of?

The tear gas was fired in an attempt to subdue a crowd of people who were attempting to subvert the rule of law by rioting and breaking down a border defence. Those who fired the tear gas were asserting their right to the defence of their legal borders against those who wished to enter their country by force.

Whoever was responsible for the children being there in the middle of a violent situation at that particular time, when they were, in fact, already in a safe country, are the ones responsible for the children's distress and exposure to danger and harm.
Report Facts • March 1, 2016 10:53 AM GMT
Understand that. But with the panic instilled in everyone and the rush and possibility of seeing an opportunity to get through the fence, the family would need to be all together. It would be a lost cause, for ,say, the father and /or mother to be at the forefront, and then have to run back and fetch the children, missing an 'escape' opportunity.

But whatever we say or judge - in the secure comfort of our homes -  it must be absolute hell there Cry

The police involved in this will have to be very careful. They may be in danger in the future of malicious claims for damages once these people get citizenship of the EU.
They may even face criminal prosecution from leftists and liberal lawyers funded by tax payers money and their own politicians and government, along with Brussels will turn their backs and allow, even encourage it.
Nobody should consider themselves part of, or have any responsibility to any country now.

Twice in less than 24 hours the BBC have said that, the previous one was I think Skeletor on newsnight last night interviewing some politician from Macedonia.

I switched on the 10pm news there, sure enough, camera following kids around like a creepy Jimmy S.

It's so biased. The macedonians seem to have put up some nice bales of razor wire. If the parents throw their kids on that, will it be the macedonian's fault as well?

Re. Trump - two days ago (on Super Tuesday), the BBC OPENED the main evening news with the words....

..."How to stop the Trump juggernaut?"

Since when is it their business to take a side in another country's general election?  It wasn't, "how to stop the Clinton juggernaut?".
I'm no particular fan of Trump, but I was appalled that the BBC would be so blatant in opposing a candidate in presidential election.  Not that DJT would give a flying fck what the Beeb thinks.

They should report the news.  Not give their political bias.  If the luvvies in charge don't like it, then tough sh!t.  Like it or not, the USA is a democracy, and if the majority of 300million people pick elect someone, they shouldn't be so openly critical of it.

First 10 minutes or so concerned the migrant crisis and then the very sad story of the youngfella stabbed to death, then the very quickly glossed over "warning", they were very careful to keep the migrants and warning split from each other i thought.

A slight aside but given that it is Monday evening very disappointing that their summary of Wednesday weather amounted to the words "it is complicated of yet", maybe but it is just over a day away.

As concerns grow about the BBC’s impartiality regarding the European Union (EU), a new complaints website has been launched to hold the BBC’s coverage of the forthcoming referendum to account and expose anti-Brexit bias in its programming.
“Extensive academic work has shown that the BBC is massively biased against withdrawal from the EU. It is required by law to be impartial, but is not. At the same time, its complaints procedure is not fit for purpose. It is designed only to protect the BBC. With the EU referendum now fast approaching, it is vital that pressure is applied to force it to become properly fair.”
