There's a big difference between agreeing or disagreeing with her views and being unable to leave that circus to one side and empathise with her personal position and that of her young family. It's a common trait amongst many people on the left shown most clearly by the reaction to the death of Thatcher.

The problem with someone like Katie Hopkins is that though i sympathise with her illness if she was not a sufferer of epilepsy she would be just as likely to start a column on how epilepsy is just an excuse for people to avoid work or get extra benefits.

Disagree. Whatever ' invective and hatred ' thrown at her, is nothing compared to the invective and hatred she has invoked every week in her newspaper column. Often deliberately, in order to create controversy, but always to cause anger,upset  and genuine misery to thousands.
