lets says roughly 60 million people in the country

340k means that roughly 1 in every 180 people in the country went to A&E in a single week

that's ridiculous

would be interesting to see how many of these were self-inflicted and not actual "accidents" or "emergencies"

how many drink or drug related?
how many should not have been at dealt with at A&E?
how many timewasters?

The last time I went to A&E (young daughter had a crush injury) it was a saturday evening

9pm we appeared to be the only sober people there.

One of the toerags in the waiting area tried to steal my coat which I had momentarily left on a chair while I was summoned to speak to a nurse at the reception desk

They should stop making saucepans of a size so they get stuck on a head. That would probably cut out 10% of visits.

I wonder how many of them had things stuck up their arse, you know the ones who fell on dildos and vaccuum hoses - are they included, if not it could be more like 500,000.

£20 entry fee would cut the number substantially.

Absolutely Jack and especially for those of certain ethnic and religious persuasion

My wife was sent by emergency ambulance, having suffered an anaphylactic shock.

This was late at night and the place was under siege.

She was in a dreadful state, but was made to wait whist a drunk was dealt with, accompanied by two policemen!

According to the O.N.S. 500,000 Death Certificates are issued in England and Wales Every Year,
That`s an average of 1,400 a Day,
Medics are busy and Business is Booming,
You still believe People are living Longer and it is necessary to raise the Minimum Pension age LaughAngryWhoops

The figures available show that the highest number of deaths in hospital come in the first two weeks of January, where 4,300 deaths occur weekly - but that's during a time when 80-90,000 people a week are coming to hospital.
In the last week of December, the number of deaths is lower at just over 4,000, but there are only 63,000 people coming in.
