Every whinges about Google not paying tax, but almost all of them will be using it.

Unless you have the misfortune to be on PAYE, then how much tax you pay is up to you.

Even VAT is avoidable in some circumstances if you use cash.

Only places you can't get away with paying cash to minimise the VAT is M & S, but they've wavered once or twice with mememe before Christmas when they wanted to boost their sales.

No, no, no ... MP Piggies with snouts in trough are not getting fat off me.

the argument seems to be ,all these companies pass on 1000,s of gullable fools on PAYE for the government to nail to the shoithouse door and in return they should be allowed to do as they feel right
its the same argument with all these tv,sport, music stars who according to the torys would pay more in tax if it was a fairer rate say 35%,as they spend millions on fancy corporate lawyers to get their rate down to some where between 0 and 3%
Report brendanuk1 • January 27, 2016 6:10 PM GMT
vat is taxed at point of sale.
they can introduce a 'online sales tax' to purchasers based in uk, on sales above 500m or something, 1% to start

fact is they dont want to, neither did last labour government
Report AFTERTHOUGHT • January 27, 2016 6:58 PM GMT
I heard today Google claimed they were not based in London and thats' why the tax was not due - but now apparently they are building a £1billion new office for 5,000 employees in London.

Come on Georgie Porgie, explain that one !

Party apologists only deflect the debate. Labour/Conservative, Osborne/Darling - what's in a name? We should be "all in this together" to make them pay what is right & not doing deals with them.

Where do you get the "£1470 million" from?
When someone in britain makes a car and sells it in France, the company isn't charged coroporation tax on the profit that ends up back here, so why would google making search engines in the US and then the content sold here be different? What share should the US government get, should they be taxed twice?
Report brendanuk1 • January 27, 2016 8:47 PM GMT
what about ads targeting UK public bought by UK companies, displayed on computers in UK?

I'm all for taxing big business but let's not forget the biggest fu*king business of all that dodges tax - Religion, start ****g taxing that and let's put it out of business.

If google haven't broken any laws they are not obligated to give more money than they need to, that's the plain fact.
What does this t*rrorist loving d*ckhead shadow chancellor in Labour think he could do?
Tell the US to take money from google and give it him, just because he says so?
Ban google from the UK? What, apart from posturing, would he do?

I believe TED refused to put this video online because it was considered contraversial - more like truthful.

If it were true that tax reductions and tax breaks for big business created jobs then we should be drowning in jobs and not have millions of unemployed.

As the video explains, job creation relies on consumer demand for products.

The issue as described here is the constant rhetoric that if the taxes of the rich go up then job creation goes down, this is not true.

I think the gripe is the tax man does deals - I remember some deal with non doms paying a fixed fee - think Green of M & S was one, paid hs wife a fortune in salary as a tax dodge and she never left home.

It's tax avoidance that infuriates people, there should be no loopholes, then it becomes fair and square to all.
Report Platini • January 28, 2016 12:33 PM GMT
the UK government will never stand up to Google, that would require a backbone. The US lets them do what they like of course and most everyone else is running scared of them.

In fact, the good old EU is the only organisation that doesn't play ball, and routinely bitchslaps them.

Theres very little lower than a nation that sells itself on unilateral tax incentives, its the race to the very very bottom essentially stealing revenue from other countries.
It makes me balk to suggest it but the tories were correct to say all the previous new labour lot emulated themselves and have now fooked off working for merchant bankers.
