...which would have us in the most trouble?

I'm quite worried about cows. There are 1.3 billion of them and how many humans are in fighting shape? There are 10 billion billion ants, but spread across 22,000 species, so I need an ant expert to tell me which would be the worst. Dogs would be easier than cows imo.

The biggest threat is from where you least expect it.  So I reckon, if they got properly organised of course, some kind of poisonous snake.  Think about it.

What species of poisonous snake has enough members, though? Also, not sure about getting properly organised. They'd still have snake-level intelligence.
Report rob_dylan • January 10, 2016 3:33 PM GMT
Snakes are smart as fk.  Actually what about pigs, the cows won't want to eat us whereas the pigs will eat anything.
Report PatraTheCat • January 10, 2016 3:34 PM GMT
No, I'd much rather fight a pig than a cow. Cows are massive.
Report rob_dylan • January 10, 2016 3:36 PM GMT
Cows are bottlers.  Pigs don't fk about.
Report PatraTheCat • January 10, 2016 3:40 PM GMT
I think you have to assume they stop being bottlers. The species in question suddenly becomes very aggressive and they all just start launching themselves at us.
Report Pokermonster • January 10, 2016 3:40 PM GMT
Some sort of insect would be the correct answer.  Ants perhaps, or a type of fly.

if wasps could become far more ubiquitous AND develop a death sting, they'd be a formidable enemy.
Report Pokermonster • January 10, 2016 3:44 PM GMT
How about bacteria or a virus?  Some of those could wipe us all out pretty sharpish.
Report rob_dylan • January 10, 2016 3:45 PM GMT
Wasps could be easily diverted with a strategically placed cake, half eaten snickers or a simple pile of sugar.
Report boxingthefox • January 10, 2016 3:46 PM GMT
Maybe not. .......because the oink oink animals eat anything, asbestos particle board was removed from pens in the 90s. It wasn't a cancer scare, the bacon just wouldn't fry

Surely this isn't in the spirit of the thread? The specific species would be focused on its task - to wipe out humans.
Otherwise you could say (for instance) that all the cows would have to put off world domination for an hour or two as they needed milking.

Below that was supposed to read that you're seriously underestimating cows. Next time you see one close up, remember what I said.

If humans didn't have weapons, cows could actually win imo.

Report Just Checking • January 10, 2016 4:32 PM GMT
They'd starve us out. War of attrition.

If ants were properly controlled and attacked us as we slept, that could get pretty nasty.
Report PatraTheCat • January 10, 2016 4:34 PM GMT
Which species of ant though? Overall, there are over a billion ants per person, so we'd be annihilated. But which species?
Report Just Checking • January 10, 2016 4:36 PM GMT
Oh you're being THAT specific, that's a bit mad.

But if all the ants in the world got into positions and then say crawled up our noses and blocked our windpipes in one swift action, how quickly could they do it and how quickly would we wake up, and what could we even do if they were able to latch on and form a ball?
Report rob_dylan • January 10, 2016 4:38 PM GMT
Not like we all go to bed at the same time either.
Report PatraTheCat • January 10, 2016 4:42 PM GMT
Actually, there probably is a species of ant that outnumbers us a million to one, so they probably could defeat us even if we were awake. Biting and getting into our noses and mouths and then biting us on the lung. Would be fecking horrible.
Report Just Checking • January 10, 2016 4:45 PM GMT
They could do it in phases, even if the 1/3 of the world manged to get the message out, the rest of the world, how quickly could they respond within a 24 hour period? You have to sleep sometimes. They could hide in the walls, not many homes are ant-tight, not without maybe making the rooms airtight?

Perhaps they could take out the majority of the world population in a week, and then there will be millions of tons of food EVERYWHERE for them to eat. What do the survivors do, DEET the entire planet? Live in sterile boxes?
Report HH Sultan Vinegar • January 10, 2016 4:50 PM GMT
Temperature would be a factor. Bull ants and bullet ants although highly effective in the tropics would struggle in colder climates, and so these areas would be sanctuary for humans.
