Hi chit chatters, I've got some time off and want to make some Christmas food. Any top recipes or tips for the festive period? My recipe is not festive but for pasta sauce - sweat off leeks in butter with crushed garlic cloves, leave for 15 minutes. Then add double cream and lots of good quality grated parmasen and a small handful of dried chilli flakes. Warm through until the cheese has melted, then leave it for half an hour. The pasta is up to you but good quality tagliatelle for me. Be careful when hearing the sauce as it can catch, so lots of stirring, I either have it with king prawns or a fillet steak. Very heavy on the calories but lovely.

Beans on toast.  You'll need one tin of baked beans.  I prefer Cross & Blackwell.  Decant beans into a small saucepan and heat gently for about 7 minutes, stirring regularly.  Place sliced bread in toaster and toast to liking.  If you really want to push the boat out, grate a little cheese on top of the hot beans.  Wash down with a glass of Merlot.

I've gone down the poached egg route, two slices of toast and four eggs. Washed down with a mug of tea, a bit early for the vino. Cheers Clyde.

fwiw I think ostrich fillet is very similar and just as nice as fillet steak, it's less than half the price and there's no fat.

I might not know how to spell Vautour. However, I am aware of the constituent parts of beans on toast.

Clyde good idea. haven't had those for ages. Will look out for some for the Christmas period I think.

With all the food, gourmet or otherwise floating around at Christmas, the one thing I enjoy the most is home made sausage rolls.
Only ever make them on Christmas Eve.

M&S sausage meat, home made puff pastry, milk to seal.
That's it.

Eaten warm before going to the local, and then cold when coming home.

I love woodcock and a slightly more gamey taste than bland old chicken, is guinea fowl.
My main game for christmas will be juggling with a nice large pair of breasts!!!!
