To Learner :

One of the misconceptions people have about whales, due to the fact that they live in the ocean, is that these animals are fish.

The truth however is that whales are not fish, they are actually marine mammals.

Mammals (both land mammals and marine mammals) are warm-blooded animals that breathe air, give birth to live young and feed their babies with milk, which is typically produced from the mothers mammary glands and fed to the baby via the mothers nipple.

In fact all cetaceans (cetaceans include all species of whale, dolphin and porpoise) breathe air and must come to the surface for oxygen otherwise they would drown.

The standard of many of the answers on this thread suggests that some Chit-Chatters would benefit from going back to shoal.
Report Clouseau • November 25, 2015 2:09 PM GMT
to be fair to Learner I'd say he already knew whales weren't fish and did it on porpoise.Plain

tbh I was hoping this thread would be about species of fish but folk have contaminated it with their loose talk about mammals and bivalve marine molluscs... Cry
