Overly long and very slow, not much really happens, weak villiain, which was disapointing as I normally like Christopher Waltz. Plain main Bond girl, terrible opening song by Sam Smith. The highlight is early doors, Monica Belluci in basque and suspenders. 5/10.
Haven't seen it yet but from the trailer not too surprised at these reviews, don't really like Craig as Bond, Jock Connery was by far the best JB. I do like Lea Seydoux and Christopher Waltz, will probably see it sometime, but not expecting too much even with all the hype.
Didn't like Skyfall, thought that was a load of nonsense.

Probably in a minority of one as usual but not having seen this one I've generally enjoyed the Craig Bond films but haven't subscribed to the views about his great merits as Bond. I like him as an actor but he can pump as much iron as he likes to look tough and have great choreographed fight scenes and good camera angles but he's still a midget and Bond ain't no midget. Who next? Warwick Davis?

He started so well with the excellent Casino Royale ......Skyfall was as bad as any of the films.
Yes Daniel Craig is a serious actor, I like him, wonderful in Our Friends in the North
I think after Casino Royal, the films themselves are rubbish

Daniel Craig is a very actor but just don't like him as James Bond.
Not seen Spectre yet but certainly got some mixed reviews, one bad review I just read concluded, 'fans of the series must hope that Craig, Mendes and his entire crew, and all of the screenwriters are not available for the next Bond film'

kept hearing how good Skyfall was - went to see it that's 2+ hours of my life I'll never get back. Fans of Spectre say that it's good but not as good as Skyfall. think I'll give it a miss.

Seen it yesterday and don't understand how it got all those 5-star reviews, must have got the critics drunk at the preview on all that free booze !
Weak plot, and what there was of a story was so disjointed, it was too long and it did drag at times. The action scenes were so over-the-top it was ridiculous, I know it's James Bond and the action is always a bit far-fetched but this was too much ! It has to be a bit believable !
Daniel Craig is a very good actor but he is so wooden as James Bond. And it might just be me but sometimes it looked like he just couldn't be bothered. Hope Sam Mendes does not direct another Bond film ! Please don't come back again ! C.Waltz was completely wasted as the baddie who was never that threatening, it was just a waste of his talent in this film. With a better villain to play he could have been so good. Best part was Lea Seydoux.
I would give it a very generous 3/5. After a decent opening scene the film is uneven.
To enjoy the film (go to the loo first because it is very long) and leave your brain at the door and suspend any reality checks for the next few hours !

Saw one where Bond was chased by villains through hotel and out into drop-off area in front of hotel ... he was about to get caught and girlfriend pulls up in car and he jumps in she roars off ... leaving villains behind!!
How did she know that he would be chased by villains and he'd run out the front of the hotel and she would be there just in time to drive him off??
Absolute sh!te .. Skyfall I think ... and the last bit where there's helicopters and missiles and he escapes unscathed is insulting to anybody's intelligence FFS
Bond films are dross ... comic strip nonsense.Saw one where Bond was chased by villains through hotel and out into drop-off area in front of hotel ... he was about to get caught and girlfriend pulls up in car and he jumps in she roars off ... leaving

Bond films have always been far fetched, over the top, and 'unbelievable', that's the whole point of them and why they have endured, to pick holes in Bond because something happens that couldn't possibly really happen is ridiculous. The Bond films now try to be emotionally intelligent, which is their downfall, they were always a good Sunday afternoon doss on the couch film imo.

I make it a rule too never see any film which is hyped until at least 12 months. By then you'll know whether it really was any good or whether you're just responding to the advertising and hype. Too many good films around to be led by the nose to rubbish just to meet somebody's budget.

Can anybody imagine if Apple made a Bond Film ... the hypemeter would go ballistic and everybody would queue for days to see it and pay £100 to get into the cinema.
And the BBC would go into meltdown promoting it.

I like a Bond film as much as the next middle aged man, but went to see this last night and thought it was just awful. Seems like they just made half a dozen action scenes, then tried to piece them all into a story; but there was no real storyline, no plot, no character development.
Casino Royale was good, because it was an adaptation of a book with a plot and conclusion. The last three Bond films have been produced by film makers/directors, rather than starting with a scriptwriter and turning it into a film. Christophe Waltz was indeed wasted as a baddie. Monica Belucci wasted. C was unconvincing as a goodie/baddie. Pointless scenes in the desert (why were they there exactly?), and elsewhere. At least 50 things that didn't make any sense; more holes than a Swiss cheese. You expect to suspend your disbelief a lot in Bond, but this was just rubbish.
A triumph of hype & marketing over substance. Seems to be the way with all big films now. They bring them out with exactly the same launch tactics. ie, We'll give you the stars for a couple of days to be interviewed on Graeme Norton, The One Show and every BBC radio channel. And in return you must bang on about it on every news and media outlet you have, as if it was the greatest piece of cinema ever produced

^ Totally agree with your analysis. The most surprising thing about this film is how overrated it was. At best it was just an alright film.
It goes rapidly downhill during the opening scenes, that fight in the helicopter was unbelievable. And that building he half destroys in the previous scene, what about all the innocent people who would have been killed in that building. Oh, forget them, this is a James Bond action scene, Oh well....
Waltz is a tremendous actor but the part he had was so weak. All the Bond women were excellent especially Lea Seydoux, but just don't like Craig as Bond.
The whole film is just consistently poor throughout, no real plot, it was really like it was all thrown together.

I was amazed at the critical acclaim for Skyfall. Is it a case of critics not daring to be negative for fear of losing out on freebies, interviews, etc? Or maybe it's seen as a Brit film so there is an obligation to fly the flag.

I wouldn't go to watch this if I was paid. I love Bond but I was genuinely embarrassed to be in the audience watching Skyfall. It was horrific in my opinion .

The bloke who runs my local cafe is called Jim Bond.
I went in there the other day and asked for bacon and scrambled eggs.
"Do you want the bacon grilled?" he asked.
"No, Mr Bond. I expect you to fry!"
