Have you been told you have IBS? stomach cramps? belly aches for hours.
Greg Wallace visited the warbuton factory where they make the bread. He sees a huge bail of flour - Soy Flour? what do you use soy flour for? he asks the manager of the factory.... well Greg we add soy flour to make the bread whiter.
Soy flour is in the brown bread too? In your McVitie chocolate biscuits too - its in about fifty percent of all bakery goods. SOY/SOYA is meant to be fermented (ask the JAPANESE). If you do not process it right - it attacks the gut lining. You'll think it's IBS. But its your gut bleeding.
The bread industry are using it as a filler, to save money on real flour. They have been using fillers for centuries. But they have to change the filler once they get found out. Once everyone wises up to this one they'll use some other mild irritant like bleach.
Un-fermented Soy promotes premature puberty in girls and stops boys maturing to later years. Increases Estrogen levels. So give em a slice o toast in the morning with jam. All the boys will be chubby with moobs.
Google search SOY + Estrogen. ( be aware the industry has its own research just like VW )
Funnily enough, I was musing earlier that 12 months ago today was the last day I ate bread, bar one half-baguette with beans on it in about mid-December.
It wasn't an intentional thing - just something that came about through circumstance, ie not having time to buy and eat the stuff for it to remain fresh.
Within a very short time I felt so much better not eating bread - and although I used to love fresh, uncut Tesco wholemeal (especially) for a variety of salad based sandwiches, my belly felt so much better not eating the stuff I've excluded it from my eating ever since (bar the one half-baguette incident - which was more to use it up and I fancied some beans! Didn't really enjoy it though and wouldn't bother doing so again).
Now, I must confess I have had a history of 'bad bellies' for years and years - mainly due to ulcers - so I may not be the person to advise giving up bread in your diet if you have a normal stomach but for those out there who have any kind of stomach problems, take Zorrostrike's advice and give the stuff up.
I can guarantee you'll feel so much better if you do.

I was told I had IBS about 25 years ago, and one of the things I tried was cutting out bread. Made no difference to me at all. I'm much better now though, and eat lots of brown bread.

I bet Guns and Roses are absolutely SEETHING that they called their cover version album "The Spaghetti Incident". Borrowing Tommy's "The One Half-Baguette Incident" would have lent a good deal more dignity and gravitas to the entire badly-judged undertaking.

isn't IBS the name given to a set of symptoms in the absence of a definitive diagnosis?
therefore as T&C says it could well be a number of things. in particular it's no good guessing that it might be just one of the many things in bread, when you could easily consume some soy flour on its own and see if it aggravates the symptoms.
or make your own bread, etc, etc....

Its not just what you eat it can also be caused by stress
How does that work? Hoe can stress stop you from digesting your food properly?
Do people like snooker players and businessmen and city traders get IBS, because they're under a lot of stress?
I worked with a bloke who was as mean as a wasp with his guts playing up all the time, the doctor said he'd got IBS. Years later they discovered he'd got kidney stones. They cleared that up for him and he's been as right as rain since.

Correct. One doc told me that it's what they say you've got when they really don't know what's wrong, except that it's nothing that will kill you!

IBS is a bit of a pointless definition. It's like being told that your stomach pains are caused by an insidey hurty thing and to try and stop doing things that affect that insidey hurty thing,oh and by the way I don't really know what those things are.
Yeah thanks for that, maybe try an alternative route.
Un-fermented Soy stops boys maturing to later years - there must have been a lot of un-fermented soy eaten by forumites.
I don't understand why soy flour would be used as a filler, I thought it was more expensive that wheat flour.
Do people like snooker players and businessmen and city traders get IBS, because they're under a lot of stress? - Stress is a personal thing, it's how you as a person cope and deal with a situation rather than the situation itself, although some situations are more likely to bring out stress in an individual than others. But of course stress can affect your digestion. The way that you think and feel can affect the chemicals that your body produces.

Telling people that it's the way they think that is causing their illness is not very helpful. You're saying that they're making themselves ill.

The old tale bandied about by doctors along the lines of self-induced illness, was that worry and stress caused stomach ulcers.
They promoted this idea for decades.
Until some clever doctor discovered that bacteria caused most stomach ulcers. Yet they still hang on to this easy get out of blaming their patients for the way they think, with regard to other stomach troubles when they can't come up with an effective remedy or a cure.

Stress and anxiety are recognised to cause or exacerbate many conditions, including IBS. Some people suffer anxiety rashes and/or itches, some have even lost hair, and yes, in lots of cases peoples' bodies do things that make them unwell.

So all the doctor has to do is prescribe tranquillisers to the patient and the condition will ease or clear up?
So why do doctors struggle to even ease the symptoms in most cases, and hardly ever find a cure for so many common ailments they say re caused by worry and stress?
What a load of rot.

If you are under too much stress for a prolonged period of time then your adrenal system will overwork. The immune system is linked to the adrenal system and an overactive adrenal system leads to an underactive immune system. The immune system plays a hugely important role in digestion. The immune system in the digestive tract will determine the difference between what is good and what is bad and so affects our gut microbiome. So if the immune system is affected by the adrenal system, then this will affect our gut microbiome and how we digest food.
The adrenal system also affects your thyroid, which produces hormones which regulate the body’s metabolic rate as well as digestive function.
So while there is a clever doctor discovering that bacteria causes most stomach ulcers there is a cleverer doctor discovering what might have caused that bacteria to get there in the first place and why the body has not been able to deal with it.
"Telling people that it's the way they think that is causing their illness is not very helpful." – Actually it can be hugely helpful. A fair while back I had a general anxiety disorder and secondary depression. This was due to the way I was thinking, or rather distorted patterns of thinking. I was shown how to identify these distorted patterns and address them and was able to get rid of the general anxiety disorder and depression purely on this basis and it has not returned since. Absolutely no chemical intervention was used it was all done by thought processes. Also if stress is having a negative affect on a person you don’t have to change that person’s way of thinking to reduce the stress levels. You can make all sorts of situational and lifestyle changes to help as well so it doesn’t have to just be about they way they think that causes their illness.
I get the impression that you think doctors just label a problem as a result of stress when it is not the case or not the primary cause and I would completely agree with you on this. Really you should only be saying that some ailment is down to stress when you are sure, however it seems to be used as a “get out of jail” card when really more often than not they should be saying “I actually have got no idea what’s causing this you should go and find someone with more knowledge than me who can help you.”
Unfortunately some digestive issues labelled as IBS tend to have built up over a long period of time and so can take a huge amount of time to rectify (unless it is just a simple case of a particular food avoidance like gluten). It’s not a case of taking a couple of things for a few weeks and hey presto, which is why going to a doctor is often not the best approach.

Wrong, if that first clever doctor hadn't discovered that the ulcers were caused by the stomach's reaction to the bacteria (and that was by accident,) the second doctor would still be resorting to surgery as a last resort to treat ulcers, the same as the rest of his profession were.
The discovery of the ulcer causing bacteria in 1982 was met with ridicule and incredibility from most medical people, because they believed that bacteria could not survive in the stomach due to the acid produced there. Even ten years after that doctor made his discovery and announced it to the world, only ten percent of doctors were using his new treatment according to the doctor himself during an interview. Now it is universally accepted.
Which tells us an awful lot about doctors and the way they work.

Yeah that comment was a bit tongue and cheek, i'm not sure cleverer doctor was probably the right term. I do agree as mentioned previously that there is a lot wrong with doctors and the way they work.
