When discussing the effect of the draw, why do some pundits quote stats for handicaps as opposed for all races?

Is it because in non-handicaps wide variations in ability could overcome or accentuate a draw bias?

Another one...Happy

Does anyone subscribe to Flatstats?  What do you get that non-subscribers don't?

I can't recall seeing any ads on the site so they must have a good number of fee-payers.

I have never subscribed to his service, but the chap that runs it used to post regularly on this site and seemed to be a decent, knowledgeable person.
There's a forum on his site that might give you more of an idea. They do a 3 day pass for a fiver, so you could get a good idea pretty cheaply.
If you are any good with access databases, you should look at the Racing sense free download, which contains 10 years flat & NH form in a database.

Thanks. I'm ok with spreadsheets but don't know much about database applications.

Anyone subscribe to the Racing Post online?

Yes, plenty of people I should think.
The videos can be watched for free on the sp life site and a few bookie sites incl. 365 if you have slybet or 365 accounts.
The spotlight comments can be found on a few bookie sites incl. c0rals.
The horse racing individual race analyses are very good and are one of the few things worth paying for if you use them.
The post do a first month for £1 essential subs offer.

If you fancy learning about Access, there are a load of links on my site.
Access 2000 professional software (which includes Access) can be bought for an absolute bargain £15 on ebay. Shocked

Thanks SJ.

Yes, I watch the videos on the SL site.

These are the same as those in the print edition and in the Weekender?

Also, much of the bloodstock info is unavailable to non-subscribers.

Yes, the race comments are the same ones.

Stow judge, when I see your name it brings back many happy memories of Walthamstow dogs.  I presume that is where your name comes from?  Has it been made into housing yet ?

Horse racing question and no googling, who rode Benny The Dip to win the Derby.

Willie Ryan?

Been thinking Wille Newnes for a few minutes - But knew Newnes was wrong.
