I bought a large, solid oak coffee table from "Oak Furniture Direct".

This was before they were advertising on TV, and I wasn't aware they had showrooms (one opened in Leeds shortly after).

Anyway, no problem with that and I ordered and paid for one on line.

I knew it would be made in India, because of the price, and plus I know lots of furniture is made there.

I got an e-mail saying "It seems you didn't order any wax polish. It is important that it is waxed on delivery, and every three months after that"!

I already have wax in several shades and it isn't cheap at  around £9.00 a tin.

The cheeky b@stards want £18.00 a tin, so that is a nice earner for them, and they are passing the responsibility to the customer, if the wood splits,  distorts or shrinks.

I wonder how many customers go along with that, but don't wax the underside which is unfinished!

I bought a very large wool rug, and again was assuming that it would also be from India.

Fixed to it was a delivery not and comments.

"The rugs are delivered to us, and have been stacked in layers, which means they are flattened on receipt".

"They normally lay flat after a few weeks".

"Please don't be concerned that fluff comes of the rugs, as this is quite normal"!

Cheeky b@stards!!!!

I know a bloke on here whose other half, who didn't live with him at the time, convinced him to buy a woolen rug from Dunelm Mill.

So many fibres came loose it was worse than a moulting dog, and the state of all the cables behind the television when he moved out resembled nuclear ash fallout.

It believe it was the first thing to go in the skip when he moved in with her.Laugh
