The interfering busybodies at Google Chrome have changed something in the settings overnight which has made all my bookmarks disappear This has happened before and if it's of any help to someone else on here, I've done a copy & paste of the advice which helped sort it out for me a while back:
"For now, Chrome users who don't like the new bookmarks manager can restore the list view by typing chrome://flags in the address bar, hitting Enter, then searching for the flag labeled Enable Enhanced Bookmarks and setting it to Disabled. The old-style manager will return after Chrome is restarted"
That worked for me at the time but after being confronted with the same problem today, I tried it again and it seems the perverts at Google have now closed that 'loophole' which now prevents me from retrieving my bookmarks These maniacs are driving me crazy...they're IMPOSSIBLE to contact to ask why this has been done and how it can be returned to yesterday's settings.
I've already spent an eternity getting bounced around in circles on their 'help' section and as they have NO intention of letting you contact them, it seems I'm snookered unless someone can oblige with a secret email address or a telephone number so I can ask a question.
Better still...some techno-wizard on here might even be able to rustle up a solution for me
Not really. What version of chrome is it (menu > about google chrome)? Have you tried pasting chrome://flags/#enhanced-bookmarks-experiment directly into your browser?

What's annoying is that I can't make head or tail of the youtube tutorial the geezer suggested as it's in Russian!

PS - any idea how to get a message through to them? The options on their help section are always 'unavailable'
Version 43.0.2357.132 mPasting straight to the browser made no difference.I hoped the link below might've helped but even though I'm on Windows 7, I can't find System Properties or System Protection for Windows7_OS (C:)http://www.computerworld.com/ar
just dump chrome and go for firefox or someone similar that isn't spying on you... google are ****s of the highest order:

Totally agree mate BUT that's not gonna retrieve the thousands of bookmarks I've lost - I can't believe that I didn't back them up a few months ago as I just assumed I'd use the same method to recover them (if necessary) as I did when it last happened in April
Besides, I have ZERO reassurance that the others wouldn't operate in a similar way (as the CIA) in monitoring everything!
A pound to a pinch of shíte that if some techno-geek needed to retrieve my markers (if I was under suspicion of something) then Google would be able to do so at the press of a button and that's my main complaint...that I can't even get a message through to the bastards to ask!
I'll have to try & decipher that Russian geezer's youtube tutorial when I'm feeling a bit more patient

I though that the bookmarks are saved with your account. I'm sure I have logged in elsewhere and had my bookmarks appear. Take a look in the below folder, they should still be on your pc C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
