1p a pint of Beer

Comedian Al Murray will stand in his guise as The Pub Landlord against UKIP leader Nigel Farage at the general election.

Mr Murray, whose character is based around a love for all things British, has formed the Free United Kingdom Party.

He confirmed he would stand forward for election in Thanet South, in Kent.

He said: "It seems to me that the UK is ready for a bloke waving a pint around, offering common sense solutions."

Dan Lloyd, who represents Al Murray through production company Avalon, said "it's definitely happening" and confirmed papers will be lodged before the deadline.

In a video posted online he said: "Let it be known that like many of the parliamentary hopefuls in the forthcoming election, I have no idea where South Thanet is.

"But did that stop Margaret Thatcher from saving the Falkland Islands? No."

Mr Murray, 46, is standing in a constituency which the Conservative Party won from Labour at the previous election in 2010.

Lest we forget, Murray's "comedy act" is to ridicule the thoughts of Traditional Britain, or "Little Englanders" as the British Left say.

Does traditional Britain mean racist?? if it does i don't want anything to do with it. The one good thing about Al doing this is that it will get right up the noses of the small minded little englanders.

What a pathetic decision it was for Betfair to not allow proper hyperlinks. I note that they retain the "privilege" for their links to their tipsters pieces. Angry

What an embarrassment he is making of himself. Mind you, I don't suppose you get much TV work nowadays unless the leftie luvvies approve of it. So he can expect a call shortly.

Make sure you don't mention the 'R' word, Al.

A talentless fat ugly slob. Brain cells of a lobotomised goldfish if you ever listen to him have a 'normal' conversation.

He is everything that is wrong with what 'comedy' has become. He needs to go and take his face for a shít.

It's quite simple, the more rubbish flung at UKIP, the more votes they will get. Murray will just ensure Farage gets elected.

Nobody less stupid than you Badger would have taken luvvie Fat Al's schtick for real and anybody doubting it would have only need ask why he was hardly ever off the BBC for years? If you aren't a left wing luvvie like Al you don't tend to get on in comedy in this country. Still it's not all bad. With his lineage he could have been a poet and that may not have been pretty.

So is The Pub Landlord character left wing or right wing?

How will his anti-French diatribes be re-jigged to differentiate himself from UKIP?

Is the BBC left-wing or right wing?

What's the BBC got to  do with this anyway?

Murray is just another ten-a-penny sneering, wrong-headed, illiberal Socialist. Another in the great hordes of self-hating appeasers who have led us into this morass.

Like them all though, he has misjudged his audience. He will be seen as just another Establishment toady wheeled out to sneer at the viewpoints reasonably held by people who have seens their towns and country taken over by uninvited guests.

Let him take his entirely unfunny shtick to Thanet South. The people there will see through him, just like people all over the country are beginning to wise up to what has been foisted upon them by decades of social engineering.

His character is, of course, a right wing bigot, but he is on the liberal left. So what?

Make no mistake that he is liberal. Actually too libertarian for either the mainstream left or the right.
