$46 now but has been reported it could fall as low as $40 but won't be expected to bounce back sharply at all .

What do you buy then though .. Brent Oil ... BP Confused

BP always seems to exceed the market when it rises .. down to 380p now but wouldn't buy until 365 ish (low)

Just buy an Oil ETF to mirror the price as best, else with futures you run the risk of getting stopped out with lack of margin

The oil company retail bonds may be worth a gamble.
Enquest and Premier oil are two that I'm aware of. I have a small amount in Premier Oil.
I was hoping that the good folk who write on fixedincomeinvestor would do an updated view on these, but no luck yet.

It's all about risk/reward.

Premier oil (2020) are currently yielding 8.74%
Enquest (2022) are currently yielding 14.97%

Of course, if they go under, you do your dough!

Do your own research!

Are you confusing me with someone else? I have never put more than ca 5-6 % of my wealth into gold. I have only traded in ETFs and would not have won or lost anything significant on gold or silver ETFs.  Confused

I bought some gold coins in ignorance of the mark up.
Bought at between £350 and £550 as an investment not realising at the time that it was a poor investment.
The wife wanted a new car and some other stuff so sold the coins at, I think,an average of £1k, to fund it.
Bought in ignorance then sold rather than dip into savings and cleared up. Who says you need to know anything.
