I once climbed a mountain (I'm not sure if it would technically be called a mountain) in Wales when I was a kid. I'm not going to google it's correct spelling but it was pronounced Garn Vadrin.

The Cruachan range always fascinates me.
A beautiful sight but the real attraction is that Ben Cruachan hosts an Hydro Electric Power Station.
A cavern was created inside the mountain to house the Power Station and the mountain is now also known as The Hollow Mountain .
Driving past you wouldn't have a clue. Well worth a visit.

The Carpathians boast the Transfăgărășan Highway, labelled the best driving road... in the world, by Clarkson.

As one of my Ukrainian relatives who has driven the road put it:

Крім того, ми перетнули Румунію, їхали по Transfagarash. Про Transfagarash я дізнався з телепередачі TOP GEAR, яку люблю дивитися. Ведучий Jeremy Clarkson сказав, що це найкраща екстремальна автомобільна дорога і я повністю з ним згідний. Це була надзвичайно захоплива подорож. Ми піднялись на висоту більше 2000 м. і фактично перебували в хмарах, погода весь час змінювалась, то світило сонце, то падав дощ.

Poetry.

The Clwydian Range and Snowdonia. Can't see the point of mountains you can't get up and down in a day and enjoy a pint afterwards.

Can also do without having a bunch of hoorays ski-ing into trees and having to edge past their plastercasts to get to the bar imo.

Alps nice to look at from afar though I'll grant you and Yosemite was spectacular but you can drive up a lot of them. Plain

It's just my first cousin once removed's description of his family holiday (my family comes from near L'viv, not far from the Ukrainian end of the Carpathians):

In addition we crossed Romania and went on the Transfagarash. I learned about the Transfagarash from the television show TOP GEAR, which I like watching. The presenter Jeremy Clarkson said it's the best extreme driving road, and I completely agree with him. It was a very exciting journey. We climbed to a height of 2000 metres and were actually in the clouds, with the weather continually changing from sunshine one minute to rainfall the next.
