What drives them to carry on into their sixties and seventies?
It surely can't be just about money, as most are seriously "minted"!
Do they really love what they do, so are just driven by passion, and the "buzz" from adulation from their audiences?
What got me wondering about this was thinking of the "Bee Gees" , now sadly down to just one, being Barry.
I saw him at the funeral of Robin, and he was a shadow of his former self. His once luxuriously ample hair was grey and unkempt looking, but he is still touring again.
Ok, some of them are still holding back the years, despite looking well worn, and the talent is still there!
Such as "The Stones", "The Who", "The Bloody Moos", "The Eagles", "Phil Colins", "Macca", "Springsteen", etc etc, etc..... Not saying that some of the listed should give up, but then maybe some should!
Not in the music industry, but the likes of Bruce Forsyth, who in a "fly on the wall" a good few years ago said, when leaving the studios at 20:30 after a long day, that it was too much for him (or words to that effect).
I wouldn't pay more than a couple of quid to see any of the artists you listed. Yet they'll charge 70 quid for the cheapest tickets and sell out Wembley 3 nights in a row. And then you'll get some mug saying the Stones are just as good now as when they played Hyde Park. For nowt.

Bob Dylan, my personal fav artist of all time, still plays upwards of 150x shows per year at 75. The clue came in his very first recorded self penned composition on his debut album in the early 60s, "Song to Woody", where he opined;
"The very last thing that I'd want to do, Is to say I've been hittin' some hard travellin' too."
To die on the road is a badge of honour for some of these old school perfomers.
