I agree leopard, do you think TV manufacturers are in "league" with retailers to "hide" the understanding and confuse the purchaser, so in the end they cannot "fathom" what "line" to take in trying to measure in the mind how the advertised "span" will look in reality.
I think they are making a"rod" for their own backs, and we should take a firm "line" To change this, give them an "inch" and they take a "mile". I'm not one to point the "finger" but this has gotten out of "hand", we have got to "nail" this nonsense, as say firmly, not in my back "yard".
I'm looking for my "teaspoon" to make myself a comforting "cup" of tea, my mates "rod" and "mark" are searching for a "link" to see how we can "strike" this out.

Rather than a very large monitor, you should give some consideration to having two (or more) slightly smaller monitors. There are two advantages: you can have one turned in portrait mode; you can use one for more-or-less static content (eg email, instant messenger). This is what I use for work. It can be easier than having just one monitor where you might "lose" the window you mainly use under other ones.
In a Betfair context, you could imagine one monitor for Betfair itself and the other one for the forum and Racing Post.

22", I've burnt out too many laptops for me to go back to one. My last laptop was 17" but I've never regretted moving back to a PC. I built my current PC with a fast SSD, motherboard and RAM but no extra graphics card.
One question, if you use a 2nd monitor, do you need a decent graphics card?

Ordinary mortals with a recent pc should be all right without a high-performance graphics card, though video editors and gamers might beg to differ. What you do need, of course, is the video ports.

Thanks Ramruma, I know a modern onboard card has a couple of slots (Mine has 3, monitor, HDMI and 1 other) but was just wondering if I needed a faster graphics card to run 2 at the same time. I play a lot of poker but I stack, a 2nd monitor would be handy though for registering etc.

No you dont mate. The inbuilt GPU on the core processors, which I presume you have, are more than capable for basic stuff like internet, poker and streaming video on two screens.
