Hi the past while my mouth feels dry all the time recently, like ive been for a heavy session every night, ive been for diabetes check but have beeen told my blood levels are fine, has anyone else ever had this, im slightly worried
I gave up all sweet things, getting my sugar from fruit, when I was diagnosed as diabetic. I started passing out occasionally and the doc said it was down to that and that the body will always react to sudden changes in eating or drinking habits.

I had tests for various ailments, and discovered i had b12 deficiency.
One of the symptoms was a dry mouth, especially on waking up in the morning.
Hope its not that though. The 3 monthly injections are not very nice :)

I'm assuming you are taking some prescription drugs.
Dry mouth is a common cause of many of them.
Read the labels for "Side Effects" or obviously ask your GP.......
"If dry mouth is caused by something like medication -- it is a common side effect of drugs used to treat depression, anxiety, pain, allergies (antihistamines and decongestants), diarrhea, urinary incontinence, and Parkinson's disease -- your dentist or doctor will consider making a change. That may mean trying a different medication or adjusting the dosage".
My mouth is dry for much of the time due, we think, from the "Amitriptylene" (Happy pills) that I take to help with my neuropathy.

You don't need B12 injections if you're depleted, you can buy massive dozes anywhere from H&B to Boots if your diet hasn't enough. Are your lips dry and chapped? Little cuts at the corners of your mouth? Do you drink enough water, a lot of people don't. Simple dehydration can cause dry mouth.

Would that was the case but unfortunately it isn't!
I'm on the max dose of 3 tablets, taken in the evening, and I'm a raving insomniac.

Had dry mouth and badly chapped lips appear out of the blue four or five weeks ago. I don't drink or smoke and am not on any medication, and it took weeks to work out that the cause was vitamin B deficiency (probably B2/riboflavin, necessary for cell repair).
I'd calculated that I was comfortably getting the recommended amount via meat, dairy etc., but I added a couple of slices of Marmite each lunchtime to see whether it helped, and, hey presto! all the symptoms have cleared up within three days.
Vit B deficiency leads to all sorts of complications, so it was pleasing that a relatively harmless one alerted me to what my body happens to need.
The problem is that B vitamins dissolve in water, which means you pee and sweat them out, instead of storing them. So you have to replenish them every day. A couple of daily slices of Marmite for me from now on, I reckon.

You might like to look up Sjogren's Syndrome, although it tends to affect women more than men. It runs in my family even though I don't have it personally as yet. I think they just do a blood test for it but not all GP's seem to be aware of it.
