It beggars belief how they can get so many players on a completely corrupt site. I presume they must pay off the people that regulate it.

I do.

Are you on about bad beats ?

Not played on it for a while and noticed they changed the layout a bit and so I thought I'd give it another crack. I don't know how you win playing tight aggressive or how anyone makes a profit on there! Filled with donkey Eastern Europeans who seem to hit every three outer or under chance they get.

How can you be so naive to think its completely genuine? Perhaps you play a lot higher stakes so therefore don't see as much bs.
Report kincsem • October 25, 2014 9:21 PM BST
You are probably playing against teams - thirty players in one room all playing the same tournament.
Live play is best imo.
Report Ovalman. • October 25, 2014 9:41 PM BST
If you can't beat micro stakes then you are the sucker. Maybe not enough hands but probably you were the sucker.

I wish someone could watch me play and show me where I'm going wrong. A few years ago I'd often turn $20-30 into $150+ within a week or so. I've not played as serious for a while after going on tilt several times and betting out my bankroll.

I've played on quite a few sites and to me, Sky Poker seems the most genuine. Probably because all the players are British!
Report Ovalman. • October 25, 2014 10:20 PM BST
On Betfair (Pokerchamps), you just played a TAG game and made money. I played it before I knew I was playing it.

Wulfman was the best player I faced but he whinged when we moved to a site that had poker players, he was 3 bet bluffing when he knew I'd fold. I'd 4 bet shove him now in hindsight.

Poker has evolved and players improved, bad players gave up and margins got tighter.

There's plenty of info and websites out there to improve your game, Betfair is not one of them.

Pokerstars are now charging 2.5% to deposit in $$$ if your debit card is in £££. They are starting to be greedy and squeeze the margins further. I don't play Pokerstars mainly because most of the better players play there and there is no value.

I play I-Poker which includes Betfair, William Hill, Boyle and Paddy Power. I'm not a pro but I target promotions like the $1k added on Paddy Power and €1k on Boyle. I think you don't have to be the best, just better than those you play imo.

Pokerstars are now owned by Amaya , Ovalman so it's not the Pokerstars of old any longer , though things are the same for now they are rapidly going downhill & many pro's are getting mightily p*ssed off by them .
I've always questioned their Random number generator (that is generated by firing neurons through a Mirror) but if it's the same rig they've always used & been verified twice , as assbff says who's to say they haven't been in Pokerstars pocket all along , it's a possibility though people would tell you you're mad .
I've played there since 2007 & it's always been tough , always been bad beats every day but the downswings some pro's are suffering are just something I've never seen before , games are a lot tougher but the margins are so tight for error now , I think i'll be cutting down my play rapidly next year as it's just not worth the stress any longer Sad

I know your far higher stakes and it's a meta game up there but I've showed you some of my stats and I know for a fact that the RNG is true. Here's my races report for 10,000 hands where I got my chips "all in"

http://i59.tinypic.com/14uawc8.png

The game has evolved since 2007, there's so much more in the way of training and software. Fish have either got better or left completely. Regs have improved, I think if you stay static then people will match or surpass you. You've always got to keep learning and analysing. If you check out Sharkscope leaderboards, the players at $30-$50 are making almost as much as those as >$50. This says to me that >$50 is so much tougher. I suspect in a year or 2 that bar will be lowered to $15 or $30.

I know about Amaya buying Pokerstars and profits will come first but I dislike Pokertsars anyway because it's "too good".

Despite it's clunkiness, I-Poker has promotions tailored for individual sites so I target these. I play those Jackpot games that have very high rake but are so whale filled I can still eek out a positive ROI. I've even hit 1 Jackpot this year and came close on a few occasions. I think the value lies away from Stars TBH.

Chase the whales and avoid the regs imo.

Human nature see's patterns when there aren't any. That's why we see faces in the clouds, on the Moon and in other random situations. It's probably derived from early history when identifying a predator could mean life or death.

Unfortunately with poker it's much worse, we tend to notice our bad beats more. When we lose a 60/40 shot we tend to remember it but as my stats above prove, I've won 50.1% of all flips and yet lost chips in the process. We tend not to remember all those times when we win being the 40/60 shot.

This is a mental game issue and it's took me ages to overcome but the bottom line is poker is a game of skill with a large chunk of luck. I think once you get past that stage your game will improve.

Hi Ovalman

I just wanted to personally apologize to you for getting so wound up on that thread before , it made me feel bad afterwards & I'm sorry Sad

I was playing too much & felt like a zombie the end of last year but was also on a 200+ buyin downswing

2 months is about normal Dw2e but when 6 months day after day after day happens whilst Pokerstars is being sold you really start to question the game

Congrats, I've never had a big score on Stars although playing the Pokercast atm in the private tab.

See my message I've just put up on the Poker forum lol. Even despite the crap support, clunky software and disconnects I think there's better value here.

Hi McMoon, no worries. I know you get stressed out as it's your day job. I'm not under those pressures.
Report doantwin2easy • January 5, 2015 12:18 AM GMT
MC no. i won 3 big mtt's on tilt around 2011. got the hump with the game for quite a while and only came back to it couple months back. my point was only that i felt stars was giving me the run around and nearly jacked it - and then today happens. not rich by any stretch but nice to win. had several decent cashes in recent times but winning is better.

hate bragging to be honest (probably not believable) but when you go a while between drinks you wanna share it.

Report Mc Moonbeam • January 5, 2015 12:22 AM GMT
ok cool , hope you're doing ok

I wish it was just a hobby /extra income for me tbh

You're probably right about software too , though that's not really my problem , games are just much tougher no matter how good you are , to the point of breakeven nowadays , and when you play fulltime you can't simply avoid regs
Report Mc Moonbeam • January 5, 2015 12:25 AM GMT
Yep of course mate Mtt's are always super tough to win Cool

I've played for years full time & only ever won $3350 , $3500 & $2250 , though Sng's are my game really

Mtt's are about breakeven last few years for me
Report doantwin2easy • January 5, 2015 12:34 AM GMT
You'll crush it mate this year if you want it.
Report Mc Moonbeam • January 5, 2015 12:43 AM GMT
ty mate , you too !

I like to play for the big Mtt's Scoop Wcoop , though find it tough to make the regular stuff pay

I like to play sats , trouble is you can normally unregister & take the $215 or whatever , so have basically just paid 10% rake for a crapshoot

Mtt's have a lot higher variance & a losing run can feel like it's just never gonna come back , but always does , it takes mental strength , though Sng's are no walk in the park either Mischief
Report doantwin2easy • January 5, 2015 12:53 AM GMT
cheers. not belittling sng's at all. making it pay day to day as you and ovalman do requires a lot of skill and is very very hard mentally (as i know from other disciplines outside of poker). And discipline is the word.

gonna play a few mini FTOPS on tilt over the next few days and see how i go.
Report TheChaser • January 5, 2015 12:58 AM GMT
need to be very patient and i dont think i have it , learned to fold more though but still need to get out hands when im not confident and sometimes i pay just on the odd chance they are bluffing , not many bluff on the internet

can win but not played a few month now , still got some coin i stars but just not bothered about it recently
Report Ovalman. • January 5, 2015 1:00 AM GMT
I hit the Dirty Dozen Jackpot for €2k which was my biggest score but I profited nicely over the year and really pleased with the way my game has improved. I've had a few small wins this year but it's all pocket money like that €37 win tonight. It all mounts up though.

Has anyone watched Twitch? There's a few who stream that are playing in the Sunday Million. http://www.twitch.tv/gripsed
Report Mc Moonbeam • January 5, 2015 1:16 AM GMT
it takes a lot of patience & discipline Chaser

try & work out if you're ahead preflop & cut out the drawy stuff , that way you can play a bolder more tight- agg game

you're right they don't bluff & 3 bet light as much as you may think they are , usually got you racing at least , so you have to fold in some spots

bad beats still happen but bad play will cost you longterm

I used to play "free" online poker and it was fun, but if you look at the maths then if players can communicate hands to each other then surely they can maximise their chance of winning and your chance of losing?

They don't even need to be same room, just need a side app or skype or whatever. And if real money is involved, then there is a motivation there to do that. So I don't think I'd play for money, not when the honest Italian Serie B is open for betting Laugh

Rife in the D2n games but easy enough to spot and easy enough to confirm if you've sharksc0pe.
You can see how often they play at the same tables and what their roi's are when together and when apart.

My son used to the dub ups 10 tabs at a time. Even breaking level or a small loss was good as the rake and other add ons made it worthwhile.

They used to refund stakes when spotted.
