right I wont pretend its a mate or owt like that its me that done it
I damaged my exs carand she reported it to police, so I gets a conditional caution. the condition is I pay for the repairs which she presented a detailed quote to the police. now I have since found out she not only has not had the repairs done but has also bought a brand new motor !!!  now obviously I like to know if I have grounds for not paying it as its a condition and not a fine ... ??

Ask for receipt of repair. And don't smash up your ex-girlfiends' cars any more.

The new car is none of your business and your paying for the repairs of damaged vehicle.
pay up and be lucky you didnt get charged for criminal damage.

Pay up and try not to behave in peasant like fashion.

Indeed. You're entitled to a receipt of repair, and should pay accordingly, but you're legally obliged not be a pr!ck who damages other people's property because you're upset.

Gadzooks barrelman, if I were you I'd wind your neck in and move on. Just be thankful your ex missus hasn't apparently got people around to sort your appalling, cowardly behaviour out. If that was my Sister you would have all five of the Blue Brothers on your case making your life hell.

what a seriously depressing thread this is, seriously

someone asking for help you all start handing out lectures as if you're the moral police, you dont have a clue about the circumstances, his wife cudda been cheating or refuse access to his kids, thrown away his old records etc,

not a law expert mate, but if the repairs have been done like you say, then there is nothing to pay for - either way CBA - the citizens advice bureau should put you in the picture

give the man a chance, she might have provoked him beyond all reason - until we hear the full details we shouldn't be so swift to condemn imo

look on the bright side, you're well rid, luckily (I'm assuming) you didn't have any kids with her

just write off the 800 quid and move on.  a lucky and cheap lesson, could have been so much worse, you could have married her.

Mind you, the girls (MD and errrr Annie) will probably reckon the girl got lucky, what with you going psycho beating up the car and all.

Would I walk away...yes I would. I'm not a troglodyte, smashing up her car because the relationship was deceitful is very primitive behaviour to put it mildly.

I was close to doing the bloke but tbh honest he probs didn't know anything about me and what situation she was in to be fair as knowing her she wouldn't have told him so id be taking it out on the wrong person , and the reason I attacked the car as some would think it being a cowards way of doing things is cos I just could not bring myself to lay a finger on a woman  !!!!

slippy you sound like a doormat, by the sounds of it she'd almost done him up like a kipper, was going to marry him, divorce him, get half the money from the house sale

you had a lucky escape, and it'll teach her a lesson for next time

No joking barrelman, I think you should seek counsel somewhere, you're not thinking straight. So this bloke knew nothing of your intentions and your relationship with this woman and yet you were thinking of doing an innocent person in? Good grief man Shocked

barrelman, it's understandable why you're a little upset.  Of course.  Good that you didn't "do the bloke" though. Maybe you need to take some time out tomorrow, feed the ducks?

Would have sold the old car before buying a new one, will claim selling it with the damage wrote  at least £800 off the sale, either way your have to pay.

bloody quote feature

, for clarity it;'s good you never beat up the guy he probably knew nothing and you should never hit a women so to me the damaging the car seems perfectly accepotable

slippy you sound like a doormat Laugh

So a relationship goes pear shaped, it happens, move on. Read the thread again AR from start to finish. Smashing up peoples cars and thinking about abh on what has now been revealed as an innocent party is not really my thing. Each to their own of course but count me out, thanks all the same.

Yes, quite so.  When one is simply not socially permitted to hit another one in the face, or to do damage to their reputation socially, it has been - and always will be - a long accepted rule that you should damage his physical property.

Ffs - who is using this forum these days?!

Slippy if you re-read the thread you'll see it was her car - not his, so no innocent party has been hurt

I think if slippy caught someone in bed with his misses he'd probably make him a cup of teaLaugh
