didn't realise how many ex miners there are on here
|
By:
If she hadn't sorted the union LEADERS out(not the workers),the UK would now be a basket case.hth.
|
By:
My dad and his dad were miners. My uncles were all miners.
I understand that Scargill had to be defeated, but the glee she took in doing so and her complete disregard for the consequences in mining communities was despicable. That and her 'Loadsamoneee' policies that further marginalised wrecked communities in the North. Some areas still haven't recovered. |
By:
But she did sort the union leaders out and the UK is now a basket case.
I don't see what your point is. |
By:
The UK is not a basket case. The entire world is in financial trouble, caused by bankers and it is a recent problem, not from anything Thatcher did.hth
|
By:
Not from anything Thatcher did
It was her decision to give the banks carte blanche to do what the hell they wanted. HTH |
By:
Are you saying that Thatcher controlled every bank in the world?
|
By:
yes let's not let millions of people collectively bargain for a better life
no, let's have all the power and decision making in the hands of a fw walthy types, often foreigners, and let's subsidise poverty pay with benefits and then let's vilify those people living on poverty pay in insecure jobs for having the cheek to claim benefits just to keep a roof over their heads... working people who support the Thatcher ideology need to wake up and see where all the power, decision making and money went since she was PM - all in the hands of a tiny minority and there is fack all any of you/us can do about it we have bankers laundering billions for drug lords (not even a single criminal charge brought), fixing interest rates and crashing the economy yet still getting huge bonuses, FTSE 100 CEOs pay rising 49% since the crash and pretty much the top 1% doing whatever the fack they want this is the Thatcher legacy. Welcome to serfdom in the 21st century |
By:
She was the first leading politician in his country to disregard the trade balance. As soon as she consigned the crucial importance of those figures to the bin, the long term wealth of the nation was put in jeopardy. The banking crisis occurred as a result of the deregulation Thatcher encouraged by the way.

We haven't found the rose-tinted spectacle shop.
No I don't think that is the reason STUDYFORM , some people have more class than to speak ill of the dead. |
By:
I haven't ICTF. I've spoken ill of her for 30 years. I'm not going to stop now when it's the most fun
|
By:
As I've said before.
Thatcher is the exception. I'm the same as pandorica, nothing about how I feel about her has changed because she's died. |
By:
STUDY,care to tell the forum why you hate her so much?
|
By:
I wouldn't say that things are unchanged completely. She has given me one fun day now, which she had never done before
|
By:
Can anyone name a better leader of this country in the last 40 years?
|
By:
Erm, any one of the others
|
By:
you are incredibly clueless
|
By:
Well I could argue politics, economics and humanity with you.
But today I can't be @rsed. I'm simply enjoying the day |
By:
Pandorica 08 Apr 13 16:04
Erm, any one of the others No wonder this forum's empty |
By:
I haven't the time, roquebrune, nor the need to prove myself.
|
By:
Amazed we haven't had 'Cap in hand to the IMF' yet
|
By:
If you haven't got time,STUDY,fair enough.I was just interested that's all.
|
By:
It was her decision to give the banks carte blanche to do what the hell they wanted. HTH
Maybe, but she wouldnt have bailed them out when they went bust.. |
By:
No she wouldn't.
And we would now be facing social unrest on an unprecedented scale. |
By:
Basically, she was thick. But didn't realise it.
|
By:
Just for now, roquebrune, assume I'm not an idiot and my reasons are considered, many and justified.
I have to go to work soon, and I could -seriously- write pages about my thoughts on the subject of Thatcher and the things she did. Much of it has been written before by me and others (Golfjudge, judorick, rock monkey, pandorica, bentley boy and many more). Maybe, another day, I'll write it down, and get the same nonsense back from the same people who always respond. But, I'll need to be in the mood. |
By:
I never assumed you were an idiot,STUDY.Have you got a persecution complex,or are you just Mr Angry?
|
By:
It was absolutely necessary that Thatcher curbed the ludicrous levels of union power that brought Britain to its knees in the 1970s.
A lot has been written and romanticised for decades about how Thatcher did eventually defeat the unions, but could she have actually won though without the huge scale support of an even bigger army of licensed thugs in blue uniforms? |
By:
Great point alun people who were payed and swore an oath to protect the public were payed double to smash them to pieces. . .
|
By:
If she hadn't sorted the union LEADERS out
funny the unions are about to strike back in a BIG way |
By:
it's the inevitable response from Thatcher supporters
assumptions that people who disagree are poor, stupid, badly educated, Northern, have a chip on their shoulder, are rabid communists and traitors and any other number of lies, falsehoods and besmirchments the only argument they have is 'they sorted the Unions out' well look how that worked out for millions of ordinary people now living from hand to mouth at the whim of global capital, one pay cheque away from destitution in many cases and the majority could not survive 3 months without pay Thatcher years really worked ut well for society with the underclass, disenfranchisement, loss of collective bargaining, global capital moving jobs when it suits them (800 jobs from Southampton to Turkey the other week for example) Sky TV, mobile phones and all rest are just a distraction from the fact millions have been sitched up |
By:
Ian Duncan Smith, Cameron , Osborne, Danny Alexander and Qatada would be wonderful if they would follow suit very quickly, a joyous day indeed. cheers.
|
By:
Move as much public money into private hands as possilble the Tory mantra since Thatcher, watch the nhs this year and then say Thatcher rip, rih more like. . .
|
By:
There was no outpouring of sympathy for Adolf Hitler, why is there for this woman? Hitler suffered diseases too but I don't mourn his death. This woman got what she gave. She made thousands suffer and she has suffered in return. I believe its called karma
|
By:
Roquebrune.
Neither. |
By:
I can explain it.....there are a lot of thich folk about unfortunately who love wallowing in it.
|
By:
If you are calling people "thick" at least spell the word correctly
|
