hi .taking the mrs to amsterdam in august .booked flights in february ,looking to book hotel over weekend .anyone know any decent ones in city centre up to about 130 a night . many thanks in advance

The golden tulip is quite nice for around that spend, only a short walk from central station and dam square etc
For something different, and romantic, rent a canal houseboat.
i stayed in the bulldog hotel in december very good for us lads but probs not what ur looking for mate.

Will look out for that one next time we're there stretch...will say some stupid delinquent mental case off chit chat said it was next door..

By the way, 'city centre' is practically an irrelevance.
Unless one of you has walking problems, you can just about do the entire place on foot. The odd tram ride might be necessary.

MAKE SURE YOUR ROOM IS NEAR TO A COFFEE SHOP SO INCASE YOU HAVE A SMOKE ITS NOT FAR TO GO

I always stay in the Luxor on the Warmoestraat. It's the road that runs alongside the Grasshopper. Tidy, clean and relatively inexpensive. £35 each per night I think.

i was there 2 weeks ago and had no problem getting served in any coffee shopes, we stayed in ibis which was ok and about 10minute walk from dam sqaure

The Ibis next to Central Station is great,spotlessly clean,nice breakfast and 5/10 minutes walk from RLD and Dam Square,enjoy!! Keep away from the Blueberry and White Widow in the Old Church though....NAP!!!
