Not quite as good as Life Of Brian, but right up there. Lick My Love Pump Love
Report ya' havin' that one dave August 18, 2010 7:56 PM BST
big fan of life of brian too, but think spinal tap is miles ahead of it, i would also rate big lebowski higher than life of brian, still quality though
Report morpteh mackem August 18, 2010 8:09 PM BST
gets 11 out of 10 for me.
Report BonVivvy August 18, 2010 8:11 PM BST

Report Slippy Blue August 18, 2010 8:12 PM BST
For some reason which is not entirely clear to me I've never seen it.I'll have to put it on my list of things to do.
Report ya' havin' that one dave August 18, 2010 8:14 PM BST

Report morpteh mackem August 18, 2010 8:14 PM BST
slippy blue- astonished at that, i envy you.
Report Slippy Blue August 18, 2010 8:15 PM BST
Well if it is rated on a par with Life Of Brian and Lebowski I'll definitely enjoy it no question.
Report morpteh mackem August 18, 2010 8:18 PM BST
must have watched it over 50 times . still laugh at it.

Marty DiBergi: David St. Hubbins... I must admit I've never heard anybody with that name.

David St. Hubbins: It's an unusual name, well, he was an unusual saint, he's not a very well known saint.

Marty DiBergi: Oh, there actually is, uh... there was a Saint Hubbins?

David St. Hubbins: That's right, yes.

Marty DiBergi: What was he the saint of?

David St. Hubbins: He was the patron saint of quality footwear.

Just decided to watch this on youtube, by the wat didnt the comic strip do something similar ???
Report polybot August 19, 2010 6:24 AM BST
Bad News was the comic strip version, at the time I thought it was much better. Some controversy as to who was first, don't remember who it was.
Report Psychic Mutley August 19, 2010 9:31 AM BST
It's such a brilliant film, and I thoroughly recommend the 'goes to eleven' version which was released recently.

Highlights for me:

The bit where the sandwiches are too small, but Tufnell says "I shall rise above it"

The bit where they get lost backstage and shout "Hello Cleveland" about six times.

"Lick my love pump"

Derek Smalls getting stuck in one of those pods (I think it was Smalls, can't be bothered to find out)

In response to dwindling audiences "We're not getting less popular, it's just our fans are more selective" (Something like that anyway)

I could go on.
Report UTI August 19, 2010 9:35 AM BST
top 5 imo.
Report UTI August 19, 2010 9:40 AM BST
there was a bit where they do a gig at an old peoples home.  the guy showing them round says something like "well its 1830 hours now, how about we kick off at 1900 hours".  The drummer, all confused says something like "what does that mean? we got like 50 hours?"
Report Psychic Mutley August 19, 2010 9:41 AM BST
^ That was at an Airforce base during Tap's demise. Certainly a fine moment.

Google, This is spinal tap wiki, and read the paragraph "reception" what actual rock stars thought of it. Bit close to home for them Laugh
Report ya' havin' that one dave August 19, 2010 1:24 PM BST
id say some of them were embarrassed flatliner, especially jimmy page, when tufnell plays the guitar with the violin, and stops to tune the violin, actually thats the funniest bit in the film, imo

Best in Show memorably funny.
Report bodil August 19, 2010 11:17 PM BST
No, but it is still the best comedy film about pop musicians.
