Here's the only meal I'm gonna eat for a week... 1250 calories a slice :)
Description
This recipe caused a media frenzy in February 2006 for being calorific and "unhealthy". Antony advises this cake is an occasional children's treat, not for everyday consumption. It's rich, so one cake will serve about 16 children (or 12 adults). Ingredients
1. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6. 2. Roll the block of pastry to 3-4mm thick, and lay over a 20cm/8in fluted tart tin. The four corners of the pastry should hang over the edge. 3. Beat the mascarpone, soft cheese and sugar together in a large bowl, until smooth. 4. Beat in eggs, one at a time. 5. Add the Snickers slices and fold in. 6. Pour into a lined tart tin, and spread to the edges. Pull the corners of the pastry over the top of the dish, and brush with milk. 7. Place in the oven for 10 minutes, then lower to 180C/350F/Gas 4 for a further 25 minutes. Turn the heat back up to 200C/400F/Gas 6 and cook for a further 20 minutes until the pie is a golden colour. 8. Allow to cool before serving.

Down 8 pounds, quite happy with that. Hardly had a spud or any bread since Jan. I've cut down on the booze, but still have the odd session.
This low carb malarkey seems to work. I now aim to start going to the gym too.
I think I went completely low carb, cut out the booze completely and added excercise the weight would drop off. I may try a fortnight of it and see how it goes.
as the last 2 weeks were all inclusive at a choice of 4 hotels - its as well i went carb free for a week
cheers canary for the tttnow i'll have to weigh in and reportas the last 2 weeks were all inclusive at a choice of 4 hotels - its as well i went carb free for a week
i will weigh in tomorrow morning. I ran 15 miles yesterdaymorning and have walked about 25 miles on the other 6 days since last sunday. Eating and Drinking has been not too bad, however I am not optimistic about much weight loss. My legs feel like tree trunks atm, i'm sure i've put on lots of muscle, however I just put my combat trousers on and they feel very loose. so i think i have lost a bit of beer belly.

Have lost it over the past couple of weeks. Not as in sitting in my Y fronts eating jaffa cakes for 23 hours a day, but not being proactive. Will do an updates weigh-in at the weekend and then am going to have 4 weeks of uber weight loss

been up and down for a couple of weeks but generally going in a downward direction. Generally eating well, lots of walking, even started jogging a bit which is v hard work.. but had a weekend away over valentines and couple of meals out/ drinks. Realised that if I lose a steady 2lb per week I'll be 14.7st in 6 months, would be over the moon with that.... just wish I'd realised it 6 months ago. Keep up the hard work everyone... keep up the updates.

Nice one Paulie. Weighed in on Sunday and 13"10. Thought it would be worse than that tbh. Must be muscle wastage. Back in to less eating and sit ups this week after a couple of weeks of, er, not. Got a conference on 17-19 March which will involve swimming (don't ask) so want to see if I can do a bit of a crash loss

well done. im about 17 stone, finding it really difficult to lose anything despite only having one meal a day and walking regularly. recently bought some salter scales but theyve broke after 2 weeks! anybody have any tips for repairing them? theyre the glass ones with 4 feet you attach. they keep going too high and saying "err" like it should do if you weigh too much, but the max weight is meant to be 28 stone or something not 17. anyhoo id join the thread but like i say my scales are broke so i cant weigh myself now. been pretty lazy the last few days but going for an hours walk today, keep my body working before it forgets how to.

Started at 15 st 6lb - don't really have a target weight, but want to lose as much as possible by mid-July - down to 15st now (or just a touch under) with most of that coming off in the last couple of weeks after a change in diet.

As you can see, he has pretty much hit a wall since the beginning of February, almost resulting in him giving up but ive persuaded him that really, having lost almost 2 stone in 3 and a 3rd months is actually quite good so he is carrying on. I really hope he has a good loss this week though as he is like a bear with a sore head!
What is his target? Well according to the BMI rubbish ( I call it rubbish, he doesnt) his idea weight range is between 11st 7!! and 15st 8, he wants the scales to say 14st something on the printout so 14st 13 is the target, 4 stone to go then! We shall see, Please add him to your table, next to my username is fine, I think he will make it so hopefully it will inspire some others to carry on when the going gets tough! He is looking to achieve this target by August 1st, thats just over 20 weeks by my calculations so a 3lb loss per week will get him there and good luck to him :)
Ok, I would like to add hubbys progress, targets and timeframe.Height - 6 ft 6Start weight 20 st 10Start Date - 31.12.2009Once a week on a thursday off to boots he goes to weigh himself and get a printout, below are the readings . . .31.12.2009 - 20s

K8 tell him to keep plugging on.. I've tried and farked up countless times over the past 15 years, this time it's gonna work tho. The poster above is right, bread is a killer.. cuz its so luvverly and we just pile it down on top of what would normally make a meal. I assume being that size he enjoys a pint or 12, same as myself.. you gotta cut out the beer, spirits with diet coke are the way forward.. and excercise.. walk half hour or an hour a day it all helps. Let him know he's on our table witha load of other fat barstards and don't quit. Don;'t get fit get FITCH :)

He did like the beer Paulie, he has cut down massively though, he has only had a drink on 3 occasions this year, yes each time was around 12 - 15 pints but its a hell of a lot less than he used to drink. He has been cycling a lot too, 20 miles 3 times a week, I told him he had probably gained a substantial amount of muscle in his legs from that and that the loss he has managed so far is even better considering that. I will update you on progress next Thursday after his next weigh in!

Kettlebells are great but don't expect them to help you lose much weight. 1000 cals in 45 mins is laughable. Not even close. It'd be closer to 100 unless you were doing bicep curls while running on a treadmill.

im not sure where your getting your facts from but kettlebell training if done properly is supposed to exceed 1000 calories in an hour quite comfortably

There's no way it will burn anywhere near 1400 cals an hour. Christ, most people couldn't burn that if they ran for an hour. Unless you weigh over 20st it's a massive exaggeration .
I guess if you were using them constantly in one long continuous set then I can see where they're getting their numbers from. But, in reality, that doesn't happen. Lifting weights, by definition, is a power and strength activity. It's less reliant on using oxygen and so is impossible to do continuously. Anyone training hard enough to actually build muscle will do a set and then need a recovery period. You see people all the time on the weights for 45 minutes or more. They probably spend less than 10 minutes actually working with an elevated heart rate. Granted, there will be a metabolic effect which will help burn more but if you took two 20st twins and made one walk for an hour a day and one lift weights for an hour a day, the walking dude will lose more weight.

Been some weeks since I put my mind to the 'ol weight loss thing :( Things must change. Weighed in tonight at 13"12. I will eat rye bread and drink water and bench press Dawn French's online shopping order for the next 5 weeks. Got a week's holiday starting then. If I get under 13"7 I might take her indoors somewhere we can expose ourselves.

Can't believe it's been five years since this fred was last struggling under the weight of us all. Tell me, who's had a coronary? Who's been stunt doubling for Lisa Riley?
But seriously, I'm here for a reason. Five years ago, pitching up below 14 stone, must have been my lightest adult weight or thereabouts.
Have just finished a year-long secondment with work which has seen me leading a disgraceful Partridge-like lifestyle in Premier Inns. A diet of on-the-road beige food, plus weekday boozing has seen me put on around a stone in the last 12 months I reckon. Weighed myself this morning after a shower. 16 stone 12lb
Given my secondment finished on Friday, which also coincided with there being exactly three calendar months to go until Christmas, I thought it the perfect time to start a pre-Christmas crash diet. (Though obviously Friday was just the symbolic start, the real one of course begins tomorrow).
Any former chit chat weight losers around and want to confess their shortcrust sins? Maybe join me in a carbs countdown to Christmas?
