Evacuate the premises.

No electrican but I would:
- switch it off at mains
- switch it back on
- if still red seek further assistance perhaps from www.justanswer.com (I've fixed a washing machine and a printer on there both for just £7's advice - and you only ay when you're happy)

Are you sure it isn't just a "this ring is still hot" type light?

the light is duller than when the ring is switched on....doesnt usually happen so dont think its a " ring still warm " light.

ring definitely off....I have switched it off at the socket to get rid of light.

Can we assume that you HAVE read the manual?
Report BIG GURU • January 6, 2010 6:35 PM GMT
OK,from what I can remember there is a separate set of contacts in the simmerstat for the light, these must be shorted somehow inside the simmerstat,as long as ring is off I wouldn't worry about it.

mate of mine rang me with a similar prob he had, just before his house burnt to the ground
Report laynplay • January 6, 2010 7:02 PM GMT
thanks big guru....that makes sense as the pan had boiled over a bit so that could be the problem...cheers.
