I'm refurbing my garage into a gym, and we want the garage door sealed up, stop mice/spiders getting in, make the room warmer, and make the room look better. Im a plasterer so i eventually am going to plaster the wall that we put over the garage door.

I was planning on breezeblocking the door (from the inside), then plastering it, but it costs quite a bit.

My brother wants to just stick a few sheets of gyprock over it and plaster straight onto that, but thats a dodgy bit of work, there will still be gaps in the door where moisture/rain will seep in, so i cant see the wall lasting long. Is there a decent way to seal up the door from the inside, then insulate behind the new wall, which will be timberframe and plasterboards.

Would just like some advice from any1 whos done something like this

P.s - we want the garage door to remain the same from the outside, but not be there on the inside of the house

Plaster straight over the door. Might need a few coats.

is there any decent way of sealing up the garage door from the inside. if its sealed, we can insulate and put a stud wall up. i was thinking expanding foam but that stuffs the worst

Couldn't you bolt the garage door to the floorwall
so it doesn't move about.Screw some other pieces of wood on the frame to make the gap smaller.
Fill the smaller gap with your sealant.
It's a lot of trouble to go through just, because your scared of a few spiders.

Blocks are only about 70p each, hardly expensive.
